The funny thing is....had Romney been in control of the auto bail out, he would have forced them into bankruptcy, then, he's said, he would have had the feds guarantee the loans (not actually make them), the interest rate would have been about 5 points above market but....there would have been new shares to sell to the public instead of 55% of the shares being handed off as a payback for votes to the unions and in the end....GM and others would have done far better.
In both cases, jobs would have been lost (and were).
In both cases, sales would have dropped for a time (and did).
And in both cases, had there been a market for the products these companies produced, sales would have exploded.....and they did.
The difference would have been....shareholders, investors who took risk, would have been on the hook.
Now, it's just you and me....and GM is behind by something akin to 20 billion...that you're on the hook for.
Gotta love the Obama way eh?
Bankruptcy by any other name except....YOU get to pay.....not investors.
Love it.
