Its about time. Im no pot smoker, but Ive also never thought that it should be illegal. I hope that this opens doors.

One of the few costs for this type of legislation is increased drug testing.... at least in the beginning.

Washington state did the same. And Maryland legalized same sex marriage at the voting booth (something I don't agree with when it comes to a person's civil rights, but for once it went the way it should have gone).

Great quote from the Colorado Governor.. "Don't break out the cheetos and goldfish just yet.." Of course there will be federal challenges to the vote, seeing that it's still illegal as far as the federal government is concerned.

I agree with you. OTOH, I'm not gay and my gay son says it is important that they fight for marriage not civil unions--if they go the way of civil unions, he feels (and much of that community feels) they will never be granted marriage rights.

Yes, I agree with that. When it's a "civil union" it separates it from marriage between a man and a woman. It's sort of like Don't Ask, Don't Tell in the military.

Yup, there is going to be some relocating going on ...... All the rightwingers will be emigrating to places like the UK, New Zealand and even Mongolia with their tails between their legs. These are ideal spots for people who are going to spend the next 4 years eating their own words. Colorado and Washington can anticipate large numbers of young highly educated liberals migrating there .....

The difference is that civil unions are irrelevant for federal tax purposes. Also, states that don't recognize civil unions won't recognize civil unions filed in other states. Only marriage is recognized across all state boundaries.
