I'm relieved that the campaigning is over
and thankful the President was reelected.
Thankful but not really surprised by the
outcome. The pleasant surprise was how
quickly the dominoes fell. I think Florida
was sweetest for me and when Colorado
made Ohio unnecessary was lovely.

Happy about the Senate and the positives
for marriage equality.

I do feel some compassion for those
that are shocked beyond belief today.
They're like kids who've seen Babe Ruth
drunk and shitting himself.

They are so cosseted and brainwashed
by Fox and right wing radio. They really
do believe the shit that's shoveled at them.
Benghazi!!!! Socialism. Culture war becomes
culture shock.

Trump isn't a bright man and his arteries
may be starting to harden. But he's also
like the kid in class who eats paste he
doesn't understand the difference between
good attention and bad attention.
No attention whore ever does.

Yep

I think another thread could be:

What they said

What they want

What they expect

I don't expect much ... do you?

To me tazzy the election said four things…I am simple. A slight majority believes:

One… they want to give the healthcare laws a chance…. At least for the next few years.

Two…They do not blame Obama for the economy and think he is doing the best he can with the mess handed to him by Bush.

Three… They have confidence in the way Obama is handling our wars and foreign policies.

Four…They reject the infusion of religion in government

Butch

I'm not disputing your overall analysis, but just wanted to point out that some percentage of the slight majority may have voted for Obama simply because they didn't like the alternative (i.e., less as an endorsement of Obama and his policies, but more of a rejection of the Republican vision or really lack thereof - the known devil being better than the unknown, so to speak).

I only say this because I think Obama still has to be careful how he navigates going forward to not misinterpret these election results as a huge endorsement/mandate. I think the more carefully he steers, the more successful he will be.

That said, I know why I voted the way I did, and your analysis captures much of it.

I should have made that number five...and I feel for them.

There was some religous woman on FB talking about how evil and communism and unamerican it was for anyone to vote for Obama and she was going to delete these enemies and shit, so I in my best american tradition, and as a veteran solicited a blowjob, I was told by other holy skanks that I was rude.....

WTF?

What can one say about someone who doesn't understand the Constitution, and then attacks people of her own religion.

Given the exit polls about certain demographics (blacks, Hispanics, white Catholics) I think it's safe to say that a lot of Christians (using the term to encompass all followers of Christ broadly speaking) did actually show up to vote. And they voted for Obama.

You probably didn't say, "please." Didn't your momma ever tell you it's rude to not use your manners?

So fucking true...especially if you are saying it with a plaintive wail to your voice....when that happens all you are going to get is derision.

Look, I realize you dont like this country and take every chance to slam it because it doesnt fit your belief system.

I happen to love it, with all its flaws and quirks.

So you believe as you wish... and I will do the same. Its sorta one of those quirks I love most about the US.

you have it wrong, its not your country I dont like, its your govt & political system I dont like...

btw, has anyone told Obama that he has won the election??? cuz today, the day after the election, his campaign ads are still running on tv!!!

Gotta take the kitten with the basket... sorry.

You are bitching about TV ads? I would really wonder about those affiliates and the intelligence level of those who are actually running them. Dont THEY know the election is over?

yeah, I know, which is why I wont be staying in the US and dont really give a shite who wins the election (since I already decided to vote with my feet).. its your country, your decision what you do with it.. no matter the outcome.. i just see as what goes on in the US as a shame, cuz you could do so much better, imo.. the in-fighting between your 2 parties (& individual D & R voters) is damaging your country, but not many Americans can see that, they are so entrenched.. I just know the country I am from, women have their right to do what they want with their bodies, there are more civil liberties there, gays have had the right to marry for a long time now, and the healthcare system there is pretty good and manageable and doesnt threaten jobs... What goes on in the US leaves me scratching my head wondering wtf is going on with the US here..

Those were Obama ads.. not affiliates ads.. no Romney ads running yesterday.. Obama ads have stopped now tho.. I just saw paying for ads the day after the election as being a waste of money.. it sorta makes me wonder if Obama is spending taxpayer dollars the same way... aw, what the heck, the deficit is so high, whats a little more govt wasted taxpayer $$$..

IIRC, tj is not a citizen. I think that she is doing some sort of education thing here.

I will admit to a desire to move to a nice island someplace that does not have the huge temp shifts that we have every year. Especially on those days over 100 and those under 30.
