ORIGINAL: SilverMark Does anyone feel sorry for Sheldon Adelson...50 MILLION DOLLARS, down the tube, wonder what he might have done for the people in the North East suffering through the aftermath of Sandy? Linda McMahon spent over 100 million in 2 failed campaigns to be defeated for the Senate TWICE!....150 Million for 2 billionaires to try to own parts of the government...Wonder if either woke up this morning feeling a bit foolish? Any pangs of regret? 150 Million would certainly go a long way in helping a lot of people....There is something desperately wrong with our system of electing people, maybe we should re-evaluate? They have the right as it sits, to do as they have done, but think of the possibilities for good that money like that could have accomplished. Amazing when our system allows for such things, and for elections to start the day the last one ended...Over one BILLION will have been spent on the Presidential election....ONE BILLION DOLLARS!...When we speak of change mybe this is where we should start? You are right in that that is a HUGE sum of money, but when you imply that it has done no good I think you are wrong. Yes, that much money sent directly to a disaster area or to a charity would make a huge difference. But if you think of our country's economy as a disaster area, that money is making a difference. That money was spent on advertising, pavilion rentals, transportation, etc. etc. The companies providing that advertising, rentals, transportation, etc. then paid their employees, service providers, etc. etc. who then paid their bills and bought goods and services, thus putting that money into the U.S. economy. You say that over one billion dollars was spent on this election, and that is one billion dollars that went into our economy instead of sitting in the overseas bank accounts of those billionairs you mentioned.
