I am generally one of those who issues a lot of cautionary warnings to people about meeting people over the Internet, about screening BDSM partners very carefully, about not rushing into full-blown scenes too quickly, etc. However, I am in agreement with many who have posted that I am also failing to see the explicit BDSM link. It also seems like they have a prior connection/relationship, and the abuse was over a specific argument that they had (i.e., this was not random, it was not a stranger, it was not negotiated BDSM play that went awry).
Women often end up on the receiving end of non-consensual violence at the hands of men. It is called abuse, and can lead to murder. But this type of thing exists in the vanilla world. This is a general concern that all women have, whether in a vanilla or BDSM lifestyle. All women, as a very general rule, need to be careful. I'm not sure this particular article demonstrates how one needs to be careful in the BDSM lifestyle in particular. Again, perhaps something was left unsaid in the article (?)
