  • "You're gonna need a bigger boat." -- Jaws

  • " I'll have what she's having." -- When Harry meet Sally ( if you haven't seen this movie it's a must -- the scene when she fakes a orgasm in a crowed restaurant is so funny)

  • "I stick my neck out for nobody." --Casablanca

  • "Round up the usual suspects."
    AND
"Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." -- Casablanca

  • "Here's looking at you, kid." -- Casablanca ( love this movie)

  • "Then close your eyes and tap your heels together three times. And think to yourself, 'There's no place like home'." -- Wizard of oz

  • "You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together - and blow."
(NOT "If you want me, just whistle.") -- to have and have not

  • "He-e-e-e-re's Johnnie!" -- The shining

  • "I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way." -- Roger Rabbit

  • "No wire hangers!" -- mommie dearest

  • "Yippie kay-yay, mother@#!%er." -- die hard

  • "Frankly, my dear. I don't give a damn." -- Gone with the wind

  • "Mama says stupid is as stupid does." -- Forrest Gump

  • "We all go a little mad sometimes... Haven't you?" --psycho

  • "I do wish we could chat longer, but I'm having an old friend for dinner." --Silence of the lambs *giggles*

    "Aaaaawl-right-y-then." --AceVentrua

    So many great quotes! LOL

I have avoided posting here because, basically, I can't remember SQUAT! (It's a symptom of ADD to have low memory.) If I hear a song on the radio I like, I'd better call right then and ask what it was. Later I won't be able to remember hardly any of the words and certainly not the tune. (feels my stock plummeting with Estring) But here are my favorite quotes even though I don't remember the movies or the character's names.

What we have here is a failure to communicate. (Useful in LOTS of situations.)

In Shawshank Redemption the warden makes a wonderful statement after discovering that Tim Robbins has escaped. "It's a fucking conspiracy." (Again, useful in LOTS of situations.)

There's a funny exchange in Analyze This where Billy Crystal asks what's his name if anyone has ever told him "no". What's his name says only in a begging sort of way like 'no, no, please, don't.'

it's funny how just one line in a movie can stay etched in your mind forever...i have quite a few..but, the one which has come back to me throughout my life ..and, needless to say, has at times gotten me into some trouble ..
the movie: Risky Business
the line: "Sometimes you've got to say..what the fuck! ...*grins

Other favorites of mine:
Terms of Endearment
Nicholson: "You're gonna have to trust me on this ... you need a lot to drink."
MacLaine: "To break the ice?"
Nicholson: "To kill the bug you have up your ass."

Jack Nicholson in "As Good As It Gets";
this movie, being one of my favorites, has many lines i just love....
"What if this is as good as it gets?"
Jack to Carol (i believe that was the characters name) "You make me want to be a better man" .....and of course, "Carol the waitress, meet Simon the fag" ...lol.

Jerry Mcguire...."You Complete Me" ....aaaww, i get all fuzzy inside with that one lol...

and of course...as much as we hate to admit it...."Nobody puts my baby in a corner!"
Dirty Dancing...made all the girls in the audience say...aaaaawwwwww!!! *grins

quote:

"And those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who could not hear the music" -- Angela Monet

This isn't a movie quote, although i'm not sure where it came from, but it was always my dad's favorite saying when he was in a hurry. He did spend a lot of time in Alaska so he probably got it there:

"Throw a fish to the lead dog and mush".

alright...here's some fun ones...also often to find them as my away message from time to time amidst the Thrill Kill Kult and Pig lines.

"If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stomping on a human face forever." - 1984

"It can only be attributable to human error" - 2001 (or perhaps "This conversation serves no further purpose)"

"You might catch yourself sliding in and out of a hallucinatory state after this is all over. If you do, just relax and enjoy it. It will soon go away. But for now ..." - Videodrome ( also have thrown "I think that you'll find a little S & M necessary to trigger off a good filthy series of hallucination's." in a scene just to screw with people a bit, only two have gotten the reference and they got special treat for such)

"Look at them, they're just asking for it. Maybe the human race deserves to be wiped out." - 12 Monkies ( so many good ones here, "They hurt you? Not as bad as what they did to the easter bunny." and I could probably recite the planet Olgo line off the top of my head as well.)

"Take 4 red capsules, help is on the way." - Thx 1138

"It's a dog eat dog world, and from where I sit, there just ain't enough damn dogs!" - Texas Chainsaw Massacre II

"You've had your whole fucking life to think things over. I'm just gonna bash your brains in." - The Shining

"Wanting people to listen, you can't just tap them on the shoulder anymore. You have to hit them with a sledge hammer, and then you'll notice you've got their strict attention." - Se7en

"I'd buy that for a dollar." or "You have twenty seconds to comply" - Robocop (another great scene use)

"You get to kill. All day, all night. Just like an angel." - Prophecy

"Joey, have you ever been in a Turkish prison?" - Airplane

"There's nothing to worry about. You're gonna be just fine. I'll take good care of you." - Misery

"I like to remember things my own way. Not necessarily the way they happened." - Lost Highway

"After decades of your pain. This will seem like a memory of heaven." - Hellraiser III or "No tears please, it's a waste of good suffering." from the first.

As always, I will carry you kicking and screaming, and in the end, you will thank me." - Fight Club

"I must not fear. Fear is the mindkiller. And fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will abate my fear. I will permit it to pass over me." - Dune

"Hear angel trumpets and devil trombones... You are invited" or "This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultraviolence." - Clockwork Orange

"Watch her take the pleasures from the serpent that once corrupted man." or "I want more life, fucker" - Bladerunner

"One thing you learn after years of dealing with drug people is that you can turn your back on a person but never turn your back on a drug...especially when it's waving a razor sharp hunting in your eyes" - Fear and Loathing in Los Vegas

"This is what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass!" - Big Lebowski

"Horror and moral terror are your friends" or "I love the smell of napalm in the morning" - Apocalypse Now

"Unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality." - Alien

A few more, just because I can't help it...

"We have a a pack of cigarettes, half a tank of gas, we're wearing sunglasses, and it's night time" - Blues Brothers (then again that whole damn film is quotable)

"You try any of that boojie boojie bullshit on me and I'm gonna tell you what!" - Blues Brothers 2000

"I just took something. I can see things no one else can see." - Big Trouble in Little China

"I'm gonna get midieval on your ass!" - pulp fiction

Samuel L Jackson's entire "is this a toy store" speech from Unbreakable, which I haven't quite got memorized yet, but which the missus and I recite when it comes up in the film.

Most of these films, of course, are chock full of fun sound-bytes, but I'm not feeling that obsessive.

not being a quote purist here, just think that third bit makes the line that much more memorable - and funny

Ah, the curse of having a memory for the obsure and the trivial....

Fast Times at Ridgemont High - "Spicoli"
"People on ludes shouldn't drive cars!"
"My dad's got this awseom set of tools dude - we can fix it!"

Sleeper - Miles Monroe:
"I'm what you'd call a teleological existential atheist. I believe that there's an intelligence to the universe with the exception of certain parts of New Jersey."
"My brain?! That's my second favorite organ!"

Catch 22 - Col. Korn:
"I think we have to keep our supernatural episodes down to a minimum, what with a war to win, and all that."

Animal House - John "Bluto" Blutarsky:
"Toga! Toga!"

Monty Python & the Holy Grail -
Monks: "Pie Jesu domine, Dona eis requiem."
King Arthur: "Run away!"

Pulp Fiction -
Vincent Vega: "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go home and have a heart attack."
Winston 'The Wolf' Wolfe: "It's 30-minutes away . . . I'll be there in 10."

Raising Arizona -
Leonard Smalls: "You wanna find an outlaw, you call an outlaw. You wanna find a Dunkin' Donuts, call a cop."

Prison Counsellor: Why do you say you feel trapped in a man's body?
"Trapped" Convict: Well, sometimes I get the menstrual cramps, real hard.

Young Frankenstein -
Inga: "Would you like to have a roll in the hay? It's fun!!"

Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: "What knockers!"
Inga: "Why thank you Doctor!"

The Producers -
Max Bialystock: "Shut up! I'm having a rhetorical conversation!"

Franz Liebkind: "Churchill! With his cigars, with his brandy, and his rotten painting! Rotten! Hitler, there was a painter. He could paint an entire apartment in one afternoon--two coats!"

Men In Black -
Zed: "The twins keep us on Centarian time. It's a 37-hour day. Give it a few months, you'll get used to it, or you'll have a psychotic episode."

Kay: "A person is smart; people are dumb panicky dangerous animals and you know it."
Jay: You know what the difference is between you and me? I make this look good.

From Spanglish, this may not be the exact quote: "Every household is a community with a master and servants".

Hmm Dr Strangelove is always good for quotes. I tend to use the one about "answering to a higher authority" whenever anyone asks me to do somthing I regard as silly. People have already gone over the flouride quotes in depth.
Naturally I'm hooked on all the Full Metal Jacket lines and quotes, I used to sit there with one of my coworkers and renact the whole "get some!" scene. I don't think Costco appricated it, but it was fun. That movie also provides the basis for most of my strings of profanity (really, take most of the GySGT lines from the begining of the movie, cut and paste and you've got a whole mess of good things to yell in traffic!).
Aliens also has a pile of good ones. The "game over man!" one stands out.
