Too good not to post.

Shakes head in disbelief.

Are you serious...... ?

In his December 29, 2008, column for Truthdig, Hedges identified himself as a "socialist" in contrast to what he sees as "ruthless totalitarian capitalism.

lol.. another socialist who doesnt believe Obama is a socialist.

Very well written drivel.

Drove me crazy. As an engineer type, I like clear, direct writing. He simply alluded to a bunch of bullshit that had no connection to Obama at all. And appropriated a picture of Goya's Saturn Devouring His Child, if memory serves. A PhD should write more clearly supported stuff, although he is eloquent in his malarkey.

The part I enjoyed is the highbrow swearwords.

A very sophisticated case of Tourette syndrome. Life imitated by art imitating politics. Chris was losing it. Spittle flying from his typewriter. And seems quite justified to me.

This is not amusing? I apologize. But if you can please point at the point Chris was attempting?

That's right. He wasn't making one.

He was being funny. In a laugh or cry sort of way.

OMG I have such a headache now .

The S&M Election
by Chris Hedges

Here's another by Hedges. I like this one more.

The presidential election exposed the liberal class as a corpse. It fights for nothing. It stands for nothing. It is a useless appendage to the corporate state. It exists not to make possible incremental or piecemeal reform, as it originally did in a functional capitalist democracy; instead it has devolved into an instrument of personal vanity, burnishing the hollow morality of its adherents. Liberals, by voting for Barack Obama, betrayed the core values they use to define themselves—the rule of law, the safeguarding of civil liberties, the protection of unions, the preservation of social welfare programs, environmental accords, financial regulation, a defiance of unjust war and torture, and the abolition of drone wars. The liberal class clung desperately during the long nightmare of this political campaign to one or two issues, such as protecting a woman’s right to choose and gender equality, to justify its complicity in a monstrous evil. This moral fragmentation—using an isolated act of justice to define one’s self while ignoring the vast corporate assault on the nation and the ecosystem along with the pre-emptive violence of the imperial state—is moral and political capitulation. It fails to confront the evil we have become.

it sounds like he was reading marx and watching porn when he came up with an idea for an article. i rarely read something that amuses me and depresses me at the same time!

JeffBC -> RE: Kinky Politics (11/13/2012 8:41:26 PM)

I agree with the sentiment but I agree with the previous posters regarding the high-brow drivel. A short bullet list would've sufficed to indicate all the ways he's already betrayed us and all the ways he likely will.
