So get on FL & see if there is another sooner? No harm in driving a little farther for your first munch. Think of it as insurance...if you drop your drink on someone, walk out of the toilet with a whole roll dragging from your shoe & rip a nasty fart people could identify the source of...no one at your close local munch will likely find out (at least for a while)

Honestly, the layout at FL drives me nuts. I find it really hard to read... which must mean I'm getting old lol. But I'll dig into it and see what else is out there. I'll have to work on my profile there too, I suppose. It already looks like the (polite, helpful, and nice) person who emailed me is in charge of a couple of meetups- or at least a member of most. And there's definitely some fun events coming up like holiday light things, and movie outings etc. And Pyramus- half that sounds fantastic and half sounds awful. lol. I totally get it that it's just people getting together. I never expected hoods, and puppies eating off the floor, while someone eyes me like a steak. I get it. Still makes me nervous. As long as I've been at this, and as many wonderful experiences as I've had, I still consider myself "new". It's been a decade and still feels like I've barely scratched the surface... which is a feeling I love. Either way- I'm excited/scared/nervous/can't wait

Actually, it means the "designers" cared more about the look than the user experience and blew off basic graphic arts principles. I use Fet for the events and appreciate the CollarMe Refugees group for the lolz, but my profile directs people right back here. Oh, I did find my new apartment there and am now very good friends with my new landlord ;)

Haha. Thanks. Good to know it's not just me. I'm smart and pretty techie but that place is needlessly irritating to navigate. And I've been here for.... Many years. I'm comfy here. But they do have a ton of groups and in these groups are event listings galore. Which is really cool. And a little intimidating too but I like having the options. I'll introduce myself to the group leaders and see if I can get some suggestions and guidance there too.

I say go to one and maybe arrive a bit early before the bulk of attendees arrive and that way you won't feel overwhelmed by a larger crowd? I co-host the munches in my city and usually I will be there between 10-15 mins before the time stated in case newcomers do attend and they have time to relax a bit before the regulars arrive. We meet at a popular coffee shop for caffeine and chocolate and good conversation, which can range from talking about the latest movie to planning a future event. It has gotten to where many of the regular participants will also meet a few between munches for an impromptu coffee or hanging out at the mall shopping.

I've gone to munches in the past in different states and to be honest, they were not exactly all that great or friendly. One I attended wanted everyone to put their real names on name tags. I wasn't willing to do that. Master and I tried to befriend people at a local munch when we just happened to come across a group while we were out and just happened to run into them. They were very obvious because they were wearing fetish clothing, leashes, collars, etc...in public. We tried to talk to them but they just ignored us and continued on with their own little group. It turned us both off I think. And then I decided to join their group on FL. There was a lot of talk of finding a new place to hold their munches because they lost their last one due to the reasons stated above. They decided to find a place more private so they could give people "birthday spanks" and wear leashes and such. It completely turned me off. I've heard there are better munches out there. Hopefully that is true and you find the ones near you to be better suited for you. Let us know how it goes.

I like the suggestion of arriving a little early. I'll probably bring that up to whoever the leader of the group is. Just to meet someone specific before for a few minutes. I hope my group turns out to be as wonderful as some of the ones described. Thanks! Littlewonder- I can totally understand how that would be off putting. No one likes rude people. Sorry that was your experience. I'm sure it varies though. I had to giggle because, due to my involvement in my community, I would be so nervous if someone in full gear approached me at the mall and it made me wonder if the people you saw had the opposite reaction and pretended they didn't know you because you were dressed nilla. How funny would that turnabout be? Worst case though- I get a weird vibe and just turn around and leave. That's kinda freeing! And since I'm not into public play, I'd avoid anything super private like you described. But good for them lol. They should do what they want- where it's appropriate. I'll definitely let you know how it goes when I find the right one. Thank you.

Fast REply: Pyramus! You are naughty! OP - I would suggest, if the munch group leaders are amenable, to meet them, first, on a date earlier than next munch. That way, you'll know a few people, before heading to the munch. If you still have any qualms, the leader(s) can walk you through what a munch may, generally, be like. Offer to treat them to a cup of coffee. When I first got into the scene, I did just that. They offered for me to come over for a cup of tea and a chat. It was very cozy and nobody got naked. Yes, there are chest-beaters (they focus on their own chests, usually); there are a couple or three idiots who try to "seduce," clumsily (for the most part); and there will be people there interested only in themselves. What party doesn't have a few hitches? And OP? There will be a few dominants eying you like a piece of steak, with Pyramus' theme park ride in mind. However, protocol tends to frown upon overt aggression to your person. You should be safe...ish... QR

Thanks QueenRah. I like that suggestion too. I'd invite one of my kinky friends with me but I don't think they can make it nor would they really want to so knowing someone before would be nice. Honestly, after talking it all through I feel fine. I definitely needed to work it all out and hear experiences but I just don't think it's that big of a deal anymore... and I'm pretty excited. Completely off-topic... and I'm just going to leave this here because I don't want to stir any pots by asking all publicly and making a thread or whatever but... I just read about Hannah. Holy wow. I'm also the person that looks at screaming bad kids in the store & tell them they should straighten up because parents are allowed to trade their bad children for good ones at that store. Christmas a few years back kid was screaming bloody murder about they wanted x toy now!!!!! Called biker friend with deep voice & walk over asking the mom if she needed the santa hotline because happened to have them on the phone. Mom was a little suprised there was an actual person. My buddy talks to the kid saying If they don't straighten up santa will come repo every toy they have & make sure their grand kids get coal. What can I say annoying bad kids bring out the sadist in me!!!!
