I have to tell you about a cultural difference that made me laugh. When I read the title of this thread I immediately thought of rural midwest version. It involves various motorized vehicles. A long dug out hole in the ground, nearly the length of a foot ball field. Many gallons of water dumped into the hole. A few large tractors with chains. Rednecks. The rednecks take their motorized whatever ( different classes involve: motorcycles, ATVs, cars, small pickup trucks, large pickup trucks) one at a time, to the starting line, stomp on the gas aiming for the long muddy hole in the ground. Trying to get past the finish line at the other end of the muddy hole in the ground faster than anyone else has, or will. The tractors are for dragging out the vehicles the big muddy hole eats.
