What kind of a spymaster cannot keep his intimate activities hidden?

Trust issues are just as important as his failure to conceal his affair, no ? He made vows which he then failed to keep, that alone should be enough reason to resign.

For any spymaster, his word should be his Bond << See what I did there

As so often when it happens....it`s something unrelated that trips one up....

How was Gen.P to know that a catty email to someone else unrelated, would then lead to an investigation unrelated to him and unknown by him ,that would inadvertently find his love e-letters?

He never was a spymaster....but was an affective and charismatic leader.  If one sees any tape of his lover talking about Petraeus....she gushes and falls over herself complimenting him.
