Are you sure that your taste for Daniel Craig isn't colouring your opinion a little here?
[;)]
Seriously, I'm not making that up. When Casino Royale came out, a lot of idiots were villifying it for not being a "proper" Bond film. Apparently if his car didn't do tricks and a couple of sets weren't blown up while somebody and their Persian cat fled the scene, they weren't having that.
Still, what do you expect from people who think Goldeneye was a decent film?

A bit of an aside.

Do you think Craig would have made it as Bond during the Cold War?

I mean, look at the guy. He looks like a 70's KGB colonel right out of central casting.

That's an interesting idea, and one that hadn't occurred to me, but you're probably onto something there.
Maybe a field operative rather than administration, though...

I've read all the Bond books so I'm much less into the gimmicks than most Bond fans. While Dalton started well, my main beef is that he just isn't physical enough. Craig looks like an ex SAS type...and he's got the right amount of mean as opposed to pretty boy to really pull off a Bond type.

Daniel Craig is the best bond since Sean Connery. All the rest were just.......fops.

(I also quite liked George Lazenby, but I know that one's a lost cause...)

His chick was bad as hell. He kind of sucked. Bond doesn't cry. He drinks and kills some people.

I agree, his balance is what lets him pull off this script. He is badass enough to be getting older on screen, even have some flaws like failing some test or his aim isn't ass good ass it used to be . . . but you shoot him to death, have a funeral, and the buzzard lives through it or when needed, we whips 4 guys asses in a burst of speed.

And I LOVE that Javier is the bad guy. I fell in love with his acting in Before Night Falls, again in The Sea Inside. No Country for Old Men is just one of our fav movies. It's on the DVD loop at our house.

Count me in on the Xavier Bardem fan club!! Loved The Sea Inside!

I can“t believe it! They blew up the Aston Martin! *sob*

Good movie. They may have set the bar too high with the opening action sequence in Casino Royale though. The opening here felt like it was written by a committee. So did a lot of the story.

Javier Barden was perfectly nuts as the baddie.

I'm just wondering though, now that we have a decent actor in the role, and they have taken three movies to establish the character and supporting cast, if we can have a proper supervillian, with a ridiculous plot to take to take over the world, and a little more sense of fun about the whole thing?

LaTigresse -> RE: -=Skyfall=- (11/18/2012 10:24:01 AM)

Never fear, they are building him a new one.

He does both.
Try reading The Man With The Golden Gun, which starts off with him having a nervous breakdown over his late wife...

Ive never read any of the books. I know how most books get turned into movies. They usually end up cutting stuff and adding other stuff that's not in the book. If I read the book it might screw the movie up for me.
