I hope someone is far more knowledgable than I and can help me out. I have Windows XP with Microsoft security essentials as anti-virus software. A couple of hours ago there was a Windows update. After which - and I recall that this happened before - the MSE anti-virus was disabled. The only way I know to get the MSE enabled again is to remove the software from my computer and to subsequentially download it again from the Micrsoft website, after which I have a new and enabled MSE. Which I did immediately afterward. My question: Is there an easier way to enable the MSE when it has been disabled for whatever reason? Like a button I can click on?

Of course there is. A self described super-genius should have no difficulty figuring it out on their own.

Have you done a reboot since doing the update? If MES is listed in your Start Up, it should be enabled after a fresh boot up. Another place you can check is your security settings. Click on Start - Settings - Control Panel then click on Security Settings. Here you will find your Firewall Settings, Your Automatic Update Settings, and Virus Protection. You may be able to enable MES from here.

Or try looking in the security settings to see if you can enable it there. I posted directions on how to get there in my post above. You can also chack another area. Go to Start - Run and type in Msconfig. In the box that comes up, choose the Startup Tab. Look through that to see if MSE is listed there, and if it is checked off to start when you turn on your computer.
