Aside from the keeping secrets from your partner part ... Well, and the blatant sexism of the ad but what can you expect from advertising as an industry, really??

The only thing I have any issue with is that every dominatrix seems to always be portrayed in skimpy latex clothing. Did I miss the memo that to be a female dominant you have to wear black latex and show off your ass?

Yeh the moral message is pretty poor but as an ad it's effective - memorable, amusing, kinky.

Also if I looked like her I would dress like that always.

I thought the Model was cute as hell. Though her voice was sorta, sorta, if you see what I'm not really saying. Then, after hubby went off to slave at the mine, the voice became distinctly unpleasant. I admit to confusion about the symbolism implicit in bizzare interplay between the 'housewife' and the 'three little pigs' (that was 3, right?) hired to perform chores. There seemed to be costume difficulties, but I cannot ascertain on whose part. There seemed to be no script.

What was the question?

I didn't want to give this thread a negative tone by being the first or only one to say I don't like the commercial.

Am I being too sensitive, or does anyone think there is actual harm being done? (Loaded question, I know)

The best part of the ad was the look on the subs' faces at the door, but I'm inclined to be generous just because I like Bombay Sapphire. [:D]

Yes, there could be harm done, but its been done since the beginning of time apparently. This just continues to feed the formula that keeps women in a place of ugliness. Deception, a user, dressed to play the part of whatever man she is with, lacking in honor and using whatever to manipulate. Just pure ugliness. I have a great sense of humor, but when women are used as the butt of the joke, I lose it pretty quickly.

All good points, along with what other people have pointed out.

One thing that really bothers me is that even though the woman is (arguably) dominating these other guys (or, arguably, engaging in sex work for their satisfaction) . . .

Ultimately, she's just doing it all to be a perfect 50's submissive housewife/waitress/maid for her husband. WTF?

Well, we either cater to the image of what a woman should be or we are cold bitches.

If I have to choose which group to be in, I'd pick the cold bitch, but then I would be playing the game. This is my life. Women in my view should live what they wish to live, but catering to a man really ought to be evaluated and be a real choice, not what is expected. This commercial is just more of the same.. women serve men in whatever capacity they want her serving and women playing a part to cater, please and are then ugly and it is ugly. We continue to lie, they continue to lie about us and we accept it. Not in my little space of the world.

I was out shopping for a car with an almost partner. I was not happy with the snake practice of the salesman and had my fill of it. Finally, I shook my head and you could tell I was not pleased. My almost partner that for some odd reason never became my partner said... Gotta keep the little woman happy, then everyone is happy. I walked away. Keep the little woman happy or no one is happy? Seriously?

My domina friend said I made too much of that, but really, I am not sure that I did. She said, he was just working the situation. Well as long as we work the situation, we feed the situation.

Surely this commercial is targeted at men (I'm betting they buy most of the Bombay Sapphire sold in the US).

Therefore, this commercial is designed to turn them on. I guess it's got it all. Angelic wife in the kitchen, hot dominatrix in the bedroom.
