Thanks for posting that, Calandra.  I was armed with the same letter, and was looking for the appropriate place here to post it.

To me, it doesn't sound negative toward our lifestyle, at all.  The first part of the movie is about a consensual relationship where he suggests the idea to her and then she thinks about it a long time before she agrees, but then how much "time" can you show in a movie?  The last part shows how it can all go wrong when put into the hands of the wrong people.  I think it has the potential to open up a lot of discussion and opportunities for education of the public - or those who go to see it.

But just like "Secretary" (aside- it irks me when "The" is added to the title when it is clearly not there lol) People picked out the negatives - even in our lifestyle - such as the fact that she came from a mental institution and had the self-destruction problem.  To me, that was incidental to the movie and just showed that we ALL have some flow - we may just not all be cutters.  But it surely showed the need both of them had for the power exchange relationship.  And yes, she even revealed at the end that she could be a bit of a SAM! lol  (Funny, we don't hear that term used much anymore.)

Anyway, I think The Pet could be good for us and needs to be seen.  The "comments" section on the website doesn't work at the moment, but I send my comments to the e-mail address.

i spoke with one of the 'top dogs' at Tricoast Studios today.

Looks like you really did run with that link I posted earlier...cool...I actually watched the trailer a few times without sound and just took the visuals in...thought it might be a preview for sweeps week on tv :)

I am waiting for the game version to come out.."Scene It Pet"....then I remember I use to use the term of pet as an endearment..now guess it will be on the bottoms of women this summer like the "look at my ass" copy that abounds now ;)

Go figure...maybe even action figures available at Burger King... ;)

This PET movie looks great!

Oh, by the way, just an update on our film, CRICKET SNAPPER, about the Quincy Dominatrix: we just premiered the brand spanking new website with a very naughty trailer to rival THE PET. Check it and our Gallery out. More goodies to come to www.cricketsnapper.com soon enough. Thanks for reading. All the best.

Sin-cerely, Lawson Welles

Scratchingpost,
listen to the Directors comments again. I think you'll find he ISN'T for this lifestyle at all.
I would like to see this movie myself. I'd like to see whether it depicts us in a good light. Or if they can't get sponsorship in the U.S and are using us as a means to line their pockets with an American audience. I'd want to see reviews to see exactly how this film "plays out" before I'd wholly endorse it.

I got this in a myspace message earlier today, from a woman who happens to be on the friends list of this particular movie.

I have one! [:D]  I sent for it and it is in the yard. It holds a real dog! But...I have thought it may be ...useful and entertaining!

The movie looks hot. I want to see it. Good luck+ to film's producers!

Best, Fawne
ps - did anyone notice that they said a certain branch of the US armed forces can train-make a person a slave in 2 weeks? [;)]

I saw the directors comments WOW...he is really trying to bridge the bdsm community to the mainstream. Letting them know the sub culture is real and valid and that we are content safe sane consentual and that there is nothing wrong with us.

The other aspect is that he is showing that slavery is ugly when it is forced.

lets see if the nillas can wrap their brains around it all and what will come of it

when will it be released here in the US?

well i was very surprised to see such a serious approach to showing the lifestyle -- both the good and bad sides in terms of voluntary and involuntary servitude. seems to me the voluntary captures the real spirit of BDSM and the D/s lifestyle mentality while the involuntary side is just the usual, 'go after the money' no matter who is harmed and most likely only care about money. So it gratifying to see both sides shown.

i hope this can be shown in a theatre, would be interesting to see how the vanilla ppl react to the intense D/s scenes out of being embarrassed or nervous vs. those who are watching intently and imagining they are the slave or the Master! as a male slave, the main disappointment was seeing a female slave which is far more typical than seeing males as slaves.

no matter how this works out, it is gratifying to see someone had enough confidence in treating this topic seriously and more importantly, to put up the money to make this film. btw, the link to the home page of this film is: http://www.thepetmovie.com/

Really you talked to the top dogs at Tri-coast then explain this to me?

http://WWW.thepetmovie.Com/DStevensComm_Broadband.mov

It doesn't sound like the movie director is very pro-bdsm or the M/s lifestyle.  i have posted this on the general discussion page, too.  Also if looking at the interview then again at the trailer, you can get new flavor of what is truly being said.

Just my opinion LadyoftheManor

peachums -> RE: Pet Slaves in the Movies (8/13/2006 9:27:17 AM)

Ok, just to clarify, the owner isnt the bad guy...kind of lol.

She is homeless, he likes her, offers to take care of her in exchange for her being a pet. She says yes, and become an exelent pet. She starts to love it, and he becomes very proud o her. He then begins to "show her off" in a way, and the white slave trade picks up on it. They try to steal her, so really they are the bad guys lol.
