What I was wondering, was whether the police, DAs, courts, etc., make this more difficult for kinksters than others?

Where I live, it seems more common for police to assume rape unless the defendant can prove consent, and moreso for things that might be seen as particularly shameful or stigmatizing for the sub. I've seen cases where police have moved forward with cases where subs say openly that there was consent and allege that police have tried to push them into going along with that (which, if true, is abuse by police if we're dealing with cases where consent was present, as seems to be the case in some of these instances).

Just trying to get a handle on the differences.

Here in Iowa, in small towns with dead old downtowns, you can usually find some great old brick buildings for fabulous prices. The challenge is finding a sensible use for them. The one I have, has an old restaurant with all of the fixtures on the main floor, bar on the left half of the front. Upstairs is an apartment. Most end up being chopped up into inexpensive apartment rentals. Those buildings can also be mega money pits.

As Master stated, the ex dom and I ran a play space for awhile. It failed because of the idiotic drama that went on...not because of those accused of rape or anything like that (most of those who attended were not exactly very....how shall we put this....aggressive....just the opposite), but because everyone was sleeping with everyone else and then there would be huge arguments over it and accusations of all kinds of stuff and then they would complain to us. We would just tell them to run their own lives as adults do, don't complain to us cause ya know...if you can't be an adult, don't show up to the space provided. If you have a problem, take it outside or somewhere else.

After awhile we...more I than him, just got tired of all the bullshit. If you can't act like a mature adult, then I simply do not want to even be around you. So I...yes, I...closed it down. It was my money being spent, certainly not his. He didn't care. He got his side of pootie out of it. That's all he cared about.

These days I just can't be bothered. I don't find it worth the hassle. Plus I've been to numerous other spaces, munches, parties in the past and they just make me roll my eyes and make me feel as if I've walked into a room full of social misfits.
