...and why some complain businesses moving to China? Even in economically similar to the US Canada businesses are not required to deal with health care.

Because they have Universal Care. Businesses use health care as a tax free perk to employess to bring them in. Yet, you are also forgetting that insurance is also a business who has fought long and hard against any type of universal coverage.

I simply cant feel sorry for any of them.

If people want their employers out of healtcare, then they are DEMANDING UNIVERSAL MEDICARE.

And I, for one, concur. The solution to Employer Provided Healthcare is just rolling out medicare for everyone. Or are "Capitalists" afraid of real competition provided by having the broadest market of healthy, educated capitalists?

We reached the corporate tyranny question, absence of democracy in the US. It looks like the corporations themselves can not agree how to spread profits; healthcare related institutions want too much of the share, suffocating others. It is well known the Obamacare legislation was written by the health insurance companies.

Really?
And there was me thinking it was largely written by the Republican elements of the senate, in a doomed attempt to stop them fillibustering it.

And yet I didnt mention Obamacare. If I had my way, it would be expansion of medicare to everyone.

Given the Nitwitted Republicans, we'll have Universal Medicare sooner, rather than later, STARTING with the "red states".

***EVERY** Republican Governor who rejects obamacare, and refuses to setup health-insurance-exchanges, invites the federal government in to offer to their citizens the FEDERAL PROGRAM.

Seriously, Obama wrote this legislation as a trap. The Republicans either (1) go along or (2) allow obama to do what he wanted to do in the first place.

10 dimensional chess. The assholes threw that out as a pejorative.

Papa John's CEO: My Obamacare claims were twisted

Papa John's founder and CEO John Schnatter wrote Tuesday that the media had it all wrong in its reporting on his comments on how the national health care law known widely as "Obamacare" will negatively impact his business.

"Many in the media reported that I said Papa John's is going to close stores and cut jobs because of Obamacare," he wrote in the Huffington Post. "I never said that. The fact is we are going to open over hundreds of stores this year and next and increase employment by over 5,000 jobs worldwide. And, we have no plans to cut team hours as a result of the Affordable Care Act."

Denny’s CEO Responds to Comments on Affordable Care Act

Comments from an owner of multiple franchises including Denny's regarding his plans to offset the expected costs associated with the Affordable Care Act received considerable media attention in the last 24 hours. While we respect the decision of an independent business owner to speak out on this or other topics and express their personal views, his statements do not capture the respect by Denny's, the Denny's Franchisee Association or our franchise community at large for our hardworking employees or for our valued customers.

Denny's chief executive John Miller privately reached out to Metz to express his "disappointment" with the Florida franchisee's controversial statements about Obamacare, which sparked a wave of backlash for the national restaurant chain over the past few days. Metz released a statement Monday night expressing "regret" over his statements.

"We recognize his right to speak on issues, but registered our disappointment that his comments have been interpreted as the company’s position," Miller said in an email to The Huffington Post.

Miller is rushing to put out the fire sparked by Metz's controversial proposal to charge restaurant customers a 5 percent Obamacare fee. "Customers have two choices: They can either pay it and tip 15 or 20 percent, or if they really feel so inclined, they can reduce the amount of tip they give to the server," Metz told HuffPost in an interview last week.

Some Denny's franchisees have since dealt with angry customers, calls for a boycott and declining sales. A spokeswoman for Metz said he will not conduct more interviews.

Think Metz is finally understanding that he is a franchise owner.. and cannot always set his own rules?

Papa Johns was misquoted and the one Denny's (the singular franchisee that opted for increased costs per ticket) has backed down, opting for smaller portions to make up the difference.

I read that comment from Pappa John last night before bed,
if he tried to rewind any faster, he would disappear up his own rectum.
We should be so lucky

Read his original interview....he said he might do this and "these were the real costs" and that he was intent on opening hundreds of new outlets.

He hasn't altered from that original stance.

Nothing new here.

Talking seriously the statement: "Our best estimate is that the Obamacare will cost 11 to 14 cents per pizza, or 15 to 20 cents per order from a corporate basis" tells it all. It all comes out of your pocket, and you have no control how much. It explains the highest per capita healthcare cost with the mediocre results in the USA.
Workplaces should not be in healthcare business (unless they are healthcare providers). Imagine for example your homeowners association or apartment community, or church for example charge you for healthcare. This economy is screwed.

The hilarious thing is....there's no such pizza as a $7.13 pizza....it's 6.99/8.99 and so on.

Add a buck.

That's what's gonna happen and....guess who gets to pay for it :) ?

Awesome book: "The Million dollar pizza".

Spectacular stuff.

You do realize that a franchise cannot opt for small portions without approval from corporate. Denny's has been adjusting the size of their meals since 2007 that a quick google search shows.

These is currently no talk about smaller portion sizes.

Papa John comments came from Edison State College's Collier County campus.

NaplesNews.com reports John Schnatter made the remarks to a small group at Edison State College's Collier County campus the day after the election.

Schnatter, who supported Mitt Romney in the election, said all Americans having health insurance under ObamaCare is a good, but estimates the change will cost Papa John's $5 million to $8 million annually.

Schnatter estimated that these rising costs could adversely affect his workers. Since only full-time employees working 30 hours or more must be covered under the new law, he said he expects franchise owners will be forced to cut employees' hours because they can't afford the costs of health insurance plans.

"That's probably what's going to happen," he said according to NaplesNews.com. "It's common sense. That's what I call lose-lose."

Which is why meal sizes were being adjusted. Again, there is nothing saying its related to the ACA. Unless you are saying Denny's knew this was going to happen back in 2007.

Funny he is stating what it will cost and how it will affect but he is giving away 2 million pizzas.
