MyHazelLabyrinth -> An idiot asks for help (11/21/2012 9:31:33 PM)

Hi everyone,

So, i posted in here about a hangover that i had pretty bad and asked for advice on that, and got some great feedback. So this question is somewhat related to that as well.

Basically, i gave myself severe alcohol poisoning. To the point where i should have gotten my stomach pumped, but didnt because i dont have health insurance, tho i was able to make rainbows on my own with enough force. Though if i had gone to the hospital that night, i would have been alot more better off. I think. I can't be sure. Because i don't know.
This was due to a week long drinking bender, never done anything like that before. And don't want to ever do it again. It was for escapism not because i think drinking is "cool" Drastic times call for drastic measures, though admittedly it didn't take it long for the escapism to get out of control.

So it is more than three days later from when my liver said no more. The pain is intense and continuous, and i'm not going to put tablet form pain killers inside me, that would be incredibly stupid and would just make the pain worse.

I dont think there is any or much of a stomach lining left. All i can keep down at this point is milk and water. Milk i think is good, becaue it'll stop the acid in my stomach eat away more of my stomach lining, well i think that is what is causing the amount of pain that it is. Or am i wrong? Is milk bad in this situation?

If anyone knows of natural pain relievers that actually work, something soft and very very gentle on the tummy. Please i would love to know. Or any advice you can give me of what foods or something i can take that might help me. Or food that would just stay put.
Any advice and any slaps in the face for a wake up call would be appreciated. Though i think my liver has been cornholed enough for me to realise that. I may be stupid, but i'm not that stupid.
Well, let's hope anyway.

Thanks for reading

Milk has a rebound effect. It helps for a little while, then causes even more acid production. Insurance or not, my best advice would be to seek medical help. Im not going to try and assess your condition or recommend anything over the counter for you. I think you are at the point that you realized you did damage to your body... now go seek help.

Little tip, should it come up again - stepping outside and sticking a finger down your throat, then drinking a couple quarts of Gatorade is a lot cheaper than hitting the ER.

If you are in a state that permits such, frequent (hourly-ish) light hits of medical cannabis might ease things for you. Just one at a time. Getting baked won't help.

Milk helps if you can keep it down. Add Nestle Quik. Go heavy on the mashed potatoes tomorrow, and the stuffing, unless they season it too much.

It puts me in mind of the night they raised the drinking age in Texas. I was sick for days after that one-night binge.

You're welcome.

Hi folks,

I just drank bat poison, because I have bats in my belfry. The pain is awful, but I care too much about my body to take any of those nasty pharmaceuticals. Does anyone know of any natural remedies for pain?

Also, if you know of anything that would help with the bats....

K.

For those, I would prescribe taking it all the way to baked.

DarkSteven -> RE: An idiot asks for help (11/21/2012 10:10:11 PM)

I've heard that drinking aloe vera juice (available fairly cheap at Walgreens) will help heal the intestinal and stomach lining.

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: An idiot asks for help (11/21/2012 10:24:30 PM)

People die from alcohol poisoning. You know that, right?

If you're still in pain, then go to the ER. Yes, you'll have a bill. Yes, you'll have to explain to people that you did this to yourself.

You could have destroyed the lining in your stomach, and if so you need medical attention. Like, now.

Once you get medical attention, let them refer you to someplace to help you figure out why you did this to yourself. B/c hunny, this is some serious mojo.

I've been a person who gets drunk b/c of emotional issues, and I've never come CLOSE to doing this. It means you ignored your body telling you to stop for way too long.

Now stop whining and making excuses, and go to the ER.

If you think your liver wants help detoxifying, PM me for a very effective homeopathic combo.

Call a doctor right away if you or someone you care about:

Has withdrawal symptoms, such as confusion and trembling.
Agrees to be seen for possible treatment. You need to call right away, because people who agree to get help often don't follow through with making the appointment.
Has stopped drinking but starts drinking again (has a relapse).
Has severe stomach pain.

This is not a person I would be giving home remedies too... honestly... if what she says it true, she is one sick little girl and needs medical attention.

Just my take on this......

kitkat105 -> RE: An idiot asks for help (11/22/2012 12:14:01 AM)

I agree with tazzygirl. You need to see a doctor ASAP. At least go to a urgent care clinic - find one on Yelp that offers their service depending on your income.

And then seek some professional counseling for whatever has caused you to almost commit suicide.

EDITED: You're an Australian. You DON'T need health insurance to see a doctor. Just go to your nearest public hospital.

I'm really confused about this, you're in Australia - right? - I thought that healthcare was universal in Oz?

ARIES83 -> RE: An idiot asks for help (11/22/2012 1:19:16 AM)

Australia has a thing called Medicare, it means
no matter how poor you are or how stupid, you
get whatever necessary treatment you need...

Ring up your closest medical centres and ask
which bulk bill, that means you can go and get
general (non emergency) consultation for free.

If you don't have a Medicare card, you could
still be on your parents one...

My advice is,
Ring up first thing tomorow and make an
appointment. Don't take anything unless your
GP tells you to.

next time that any adult beverages are around do not partake plain and simple because may now if you do partake any little bit could cause the reaction again

and do not want any ill health to come to you

GoddessHerself -> RE: An idiot asks for help (11/22/2012 1:30:25 AM)

Personally, I love that we have Medicare.

That's true. All she has to do is turn up to her local public hospital, medicare card in hand and ALL her treatment will be free. But clearly, this is a cry for help in a much different way.

Quite.

But now I have a dilemma... How likely is it that a 20 y/old in Oz wouldn't know about Medicare?

OP... I'll be honest, I think you're not being entirely "accurate" in your description of your situation. That said..

The first thing to do is switch off your computer.

If you're seriously ill then there's fuck all that we can actually do for you.

Go to the doctor as soon as possible. If you can't get an appointment within four hours then go to the emergency room.

From your description of your symptoms (assuming it's a truthful and accurate one) then you're very sick.

If your liver is failing (and if you've a history of drink/drug abuse this is a possibility) then you could actually be DYING.

Once the crisis is over, talk to someone about the underlying problem. Therapy/Counselling could very well be in order.

Can I also share with you an alternative response that did cross my mind?

"Oh for fuck's sake! You're 20 years old, get a fucking hold of yourself".

GoddessHerself -> RE: An idiot asks for help (11/22/2012 1:44:02 AM)

Tip #1: eat a tub of yogurt before you drink IF you haven't had anything else to eat.

Tip #2: hangover cure that never, EVER fails (despite how disgusting it may seem) ... Ensure you have a jar of dill pickles in the fridge, ditch the pickle itself but down at least a cup of the fluid they reside in, I guarantee you that you'll be good as gold in about 10 mins if not less. I also have NO fucking idea why this works, it just does.

ps. I hope you get yourself sorted asap.

AthenaSurrenders -> RE: An idiot asks for help (11/22/2012 3:35:24 AM)

We're a bit past hangover cures.

OP - go to the hospital. You tried to fix it at home and failed. Go to the hospital. The longer you leave it, the more chance of irreparable damage. Do you want this binge to colour the rest of your life?

There is no advice strangers on the internet can give you beyond SEE A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL.

I dunno about you but I'd rather be broke than dead.

It's my take as well. I'm not a nurse, but I'm a great Dr Mom -- my gut tells me it's ER time.

imtempting -> RE: An idiot asks for help (11/22/2012 3:54:53 AM)

Ive been smashed plenty of times in my life and I a few scary times drank too much but normally just a hang over, pain would tell me its somethiing worse.
