Sorry, I just had to share the ludicrous message I just received. No, I won't be messaging your private email address to get to know you better. I do actually have a question though, is this sort of spam message a regular feature of Collarme?

Scammers try to get you off of CM and onto IM in an attempt to suck you in.

AthenaSurrenders -> RE: She says she chose me, but she has triggered the bulk content filter. Should I be suspicious? (11/29/2012 12:25:46 PM)

As I understand it, it is triggered when someone sends a large number of very similarly worded letters in a short space of time. I think it actually prevents them sending messages for a short period and gives the receiver the warning you saw.

Edit: I misunderstood the question. Yes I'm afraid there are a lot of spammers on this site, luckily they are easy to spot and won't take up too much time if you are thinking with the big head.

As far as I understand it, the spam filter hits users that mass mail out the same message as an automatic feature on CM so it is a regular feature. You can also report emails that you receive as spam too, and if there are enough reports from different users, the same spam filter gets activated.

Welcome to what is usually the lot of women on here- receiving spam messages from men mass emailing anyone trying to get some action.

She's going to try to get money from you or to direct you to a website.

In the real world, nobody chooses an absolute stranger. She sent out so many choosing messages that she tripped the bulk content filter message.

Block, delete. move on.

She chose me twice last night with identically worded messages & I'm neither sub nor male!!

DomMeinCT -> RE: She says she chose me, but she has triggered the bulk content filter. Should I be suspicious? (11/29/2012 5:43:13 PM)

She chose you just like Publisher's Clearinghouse chose you.....out of a vast batch of others she chose too.
Don't be insulted...treat her just like a telemarketer: hang up and move on with your day. [;)]

She wants your money.

~FR

Why am I temporarily blocked from sending messages by the spam filter?

Our spam filter monitors the onsite messages you send to other users and will be activated if it determines that you're sending out a large number of generic messages. To prevent the filter from activating we recommend that you take the time to read the profiles of the other users on the site and send a personalized message to those that interest you. This is also a great way to get good responses back.

In other words, she is mass messaging many people.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Just for the record I did recognise that it was a scam, and I never would have sent her any money or even contacted her. I was just curious as to whether I should be vigilante for these kind of things on a regular basis, I imagine that there are some scams that are perhaps even more devious than that one ;-)

Possibly...but the funny thing is us in the forums have no power to do anything about it! There are buttons to report profile, report picture or send an email to admin forum. Most of them are volunteers so intant results are neither promised or implied
