RaspberryLemon -> RE: Why should an Owner and slave not fall in love? (12/6/2012 1:55:39 AM)

"An owner and a slave should not fall in love" is only one person's opinion/perspective. That person can go on and on until they are blue in the face with reasons that they believe that, but in the end they can only really determine if it applies to themselves. Everyone can and will have different experiences and relationships. Individuals differ. What is true for that person is not necessarily true for another.

For me? We are owner and pet because we are in love. The two concepts (love and ownership) are nowhere near mutually exclusive. In fact, for us they go hand in hand and support, strengthen and enhance each other. Love, respect, and trust make it possible for me to devote myself to being owned by him. Love is what inspires my submission to him and what motivates him to commit to the responsibility of owning me.

Go with what YOU feel, not what some stranger tells you you should.

The author of that piece lost me at "Let us also not forget that we accept a slave is a dominant personality." The submissives/slaves I'm acquainted with do
not have a dominant personality (neither are they doormats).

Edited cause I don't proofread worth a damn!

Lots of guys are conflicted about their sexuality. They can happily do dirty, perverted shit to someone they view as a slut but not to someone they love. The fact that they have to view it as dirty and perverted says to me they have issues and aren't going to be healthy partners.

Seems to be the case with alot of men I've met recently.
Like they cannot imagine someone who is a "slut" as a mother of their children. They can't reconcile between those two, and thus choose to keep it separate.

In my world it would be difficult to own and not love. The trust necessary except in cases where either has another love interest, would make love an obvious step/outcome.

It can go either way.

So being in love is bad because...

"[the] worst thing an Owner wants to be for the
slave is blind and the same goes for the slave."

-Kinda insulting to the visually impaired of our community, don't ya think?
Good thing they probably won't read it...
Blinds them to what exactly? From being in control he says, but then:

"Being in love you are not in control and your
slave knows it and isn’t that what you and your slave wanted in the first place...
It is a brand new relationship. But defiantly not a Owner / slave relationship anymore."

W-what? That's what we wanted...? [&:] Well what's the problem then haha
General rule of thumb, don't give much credit to the guy who contradicts himself due to lack of proofreading.
And the whole trying to split hairs on being "in love" vs. "love" (placing a lot of value on prepositions here.)
just sounds like every high school boy trying to emotionally distance themselves ever.

Clumsy writing aside, I'd say it's not advisable to take advice about love from someone
who can only see the emotion as an out of control roller coaster of battling personalities.

(I am not even going to get into the fact that this is being written from the viewpoint that
a slave is a "dominant" personality and will start rebelling the second you give them an inch.
Totally doesn't sounds like trust issues at all)

You lack free will self awareness like most huwmans.

I recall as a younger man going to the (now sadly closed) Dressing for Pleasure in Elizabethtown, New Jersey. I picked up a book that was THE DEFINITIVE HOW-TO GUIDE FOR ALL YOUR DOMMING LIFE!! It was so awful I don't even remember the title. I remember reading about this pampered dolt and about his undeserving demands he placed on his 'slaves' including a chapter that was essentially how he likes his eggs done. It was self-aggrandizement that would make p-diddy blush.

Anyway I am rambling. Love, bdsm, and art is not science. There are no repeatable phenomena to recreate in a lab under test conditions. you have life experiences unique to you and someone else's rules are just that.

Remember, group averages do not apply to individuals. So, do not worry about a book. If it is true love, enjoy it!

Mpyroblade29 -> RE: Why should an Owner and slave not fall in love? (12/7/2012 8:44:40 PM)

It depends on the dome/me most say don't fall in love to me its each is own. Although always remember your place
