"Detroit Lighting
Would allow Detroit to create an authority that would have the ability to sell bonds to help illuminate the city. It was passed by the Senate after months of political maneuvering; the House has to concur on changes made by the Senate to the bill. Detroit has been plagued by broken streetlights that jeopardize public safety.
Prospect: Could get caught up in the fallout of the right-to-work fight. Democrats say they like the lighting authority, but are unwilling to provide votes on bills that are important to Snyder -- and this one is. It also doesn't have universal Republican support"

This would help the kids who have to walk to school in the dark, but I guess their hatred of Snyder is more important than trying to fix things so they are safe.

" but I guess their hatred"

You always seem extreme and angry.....are you projecting ?

This is the way politics works.

Maybe there`s a perception issue?

Can you show us some examples of this "hate" ...that guy Snyder or whoever, has recieved.......or are you fibbing ?

No, it isn't.

Since Obama's been elected, that's been true - The Republicans have stalled everything they can. But years ago, politics worked by each side detailing what they wanted, a bunch of arguing, and then a compromise was reached.

Owner59 -> RE: Priorities (12/10/2012 6:40:01 AM)

While I agree with that comment.....this is state level ,local politics and though it may be the case in some places,the national GOP <cough>leadership`s awful conduct doesn`t necessarily have to trickle down.

Somehow I don`t think that Synder is get`n hated upon.....like the ways the national con-leaders have toward the President.

Maybe the dems have indeed attacked him or is family, in the most disgusting,personal ,hateful ways......to get<snortz> emmmm....the street lights fixed.....[8|]....

But I don`t think so........just more cluelessness about something not understood.

Yachtie -> RE: Priorities (12/10/2012 6:57:39 AM)

Detroit bonds. Good investment.[8|]

Owner59 -> RE: Priorities (12/10/2012 7:01:19 AM)

Great.....more denigration of other Americans......for where they live......[8|]

It`s kinda why you guys lost the election.....fyi.

I think they have a higher rating than the superPAC money that was wasted by the republicans. I mean that was a idiotic losing deal at the outset.   These guys will get lighting anyhow.

well lets see. they are going to vote against something because someone else thinks it's a good idea. Now maybe you see that as a sign that they like the guy, but I don't. Then again you think that everything on the right is evil and everything on the left is sunshine and ponies so I am not surprised.

Actually I think it goes back a little farther than that but it was nice when they could accomplish something besides fueling the red vs blue split.

dcnovice -> RE: Priorities (12/10/2012 5:27:08 PM)

FR

Perhaps the Detroit Dems have learned from their brethren across the aisle:

Sen. Mitch McConnell: "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president."

switchdavid69 -> RE: Priorities (12/10/2012 5:48:59 PM)

If they can sell bonds in Detroit, more power to them. I have been to Detroit 5 times in the last 4 years. I will not be buying those bonds.

Always so angry......and so put upon.......

And no examples of this "hate" you mentioned......

Maybe some remedial diction and word usage classes might help?

erieangel -> RE: Priorities (12/10/2012 8:28:19 PM)

I'm not sure this is about hate for Snyder so much as it is about hate for his "right to work for less" bill.

That being said, it sounds like the Detroit dems are going to hold some public safety hostage unless Snyder's union busting is dropped.

ETA: And yes, democrats learned all about hostage taking from the republicans in DC.

Owner59 -> RE: Priorities (12/10/2012 8:30:02 PM)

Sounds like politics.......

We`re "shocked"......[:D]

If you didn't understand it the first time I said it, there is no point wasting time trying to explain it.

This is a seperate bill that would make it safer for the people of Detroit, especially the kids. If it had been repubs doing the same thing, the people on this board would be all over it. The right to work is the only thing that I can think of that Snder has gotten right since he took office.

And of course it's all the repubs fault, I wouldn't expect you to see it any other way.

Actually more of a hate for lying politicians in general, I could care less which side of the fence they are on.

DomYngBlk -> RE: Priorities (12/11/2012 6:31:46 AM)

Think the key is not having universal republican support. If he had that it would be easy to pass , no? Blaming the wrong people
