I'm not sure where else this would go other than here... If I put it in the wrong place, my apologies! And I read the sticky, but didn't see anything on this subject specifically, but if I missed something and this isn't allowed, feel free to delete it :)

So. I know there is Alt and FL, but are there any other BDSM-related social networking sites out there?

So far, FL has been better for finding more events in my area (Feels a LOT more like Facebook, tbh. I found one organization that has been around for a while that is only ten minutes away from where I live!), but I hate the forum/discussions/group set up. I haven't signed up for Alt (the layout looked a bit "cheap porno"ish, so I decided against it).

So, does anyone know any lesser known sites that are similar?

Bondage.com

bedroombondage.com has a forum, but is not a personals site.

Google is your friend.
There are hundreds of BDSM and kink stites all over the world.

Just makes sure you don't have Googles' naughty word filter set (which it is by default).

like osidegirl mentioned there is bondage.com (which is okay)

but if you don't come across any that you fancy, why not just start your own

I don't think I'm proficient enough with technology to start my own site, to be honest... And it also seems like a very difficult job (running a site, moderating forums, taking out the trolls, trash, and dummy accounts, etc.).

Thanks for the sites that you suggested, Oside and Jovanna!

And yeah, I probably should have relied on Google more first (sorry, it was a pretty lazy move), but I was also wondering if there were any that you might have experience with or like over another. Like, how I've heard from a lot of people that Alt.com isn't that great of a site anymore. It's nice to hear other user's opinions of these things.

Bondage.com

Is that still "alive"?

Last time I posted there (maybe a year ago), I checked back a day or so later to find that mine was still the most recent post. That was in the "BDSM Relationships" Forum, which, along with "Hanging Out", is about the most popular there....

I recently joined Fetlife.com as it seems to get a few positive mentions here, but couldna make head nor tail of the general format and setup and spent most my time yelling "WTF????" at my screen. lol Compared to Bondage.com & CM (and the old bdsm-online), seems to go out of its way to be user UNfriendly and in the end decided that it's just not meant for aging relics like yours truly.... meh

Focus.

Not any good ones. I used to be on Alt, but it got bad quickly, so I left there. IMO, it should be the best site out there, since you have to pay for it. But I've found that both CM and FL are better sites, and they're both free.

I'm not sure if you should be afraid of setting up your own site. It's not as hard as you might think. There are lots of good forum software packages out there (assuming you'd want the site to be a forum). But if you want the site to be the next CM or FL, then that would take a bit more work.

I decided to go back to bondage.com for shits and giggles a couple of months ago to see who was still around. It seems not many anymore. It seems to be alive but just barely.

Fetlife seems to be used more by TNG. Us geezers seem to stick out here and alt.com is basically for all those looking for free sex.

Pardon my ignorance but since I've already posted that I couldn't figger wtf makes Fetlife tick, perhaps there's a clue for a fellow geezer in whatever "TNG" stands for...?

A little help, please.

We are also members of Fet and Alt.

Alt seems to be more for casual hook-ups than anything more permanent although I daresay it does happen.

As for Fet, we just can't seem to get anywhere with it at all.
As focus said, it seems to be the most singularly unfriendly website out there.
Someone tried to show us how it all works but all the options to "do" things just don't appear on our end for some reason.
They said to go to x, press the y icon and... the icon isn't there to press. wtf??
It just doesn't want to work here for some unknown reason.

Which is kind of the point...hard to worry about everyone elses drama when you are the mod of a board. At a college you can't tell me its hard to find someone to ask. Godaddy.com will host & has decent base layouts for a site. Biggest thing missing is a TNG type site for kinksters under 30...who would know what that feels like??? Huuuh? Anyone?

Go eat something!!

I used to use informed consent (I even found a boyfriend there) but that is shutting down. I found one boyfriend on alt and another on bondage.com so I can hardly criticise any of those three sites as they worked. I haven't really worked out how fetlife works in terms of posting comments and never found alt very good for that. Used to post a lot of IC and also bondage.com but the latter seems to have hardly anyone from the UK on it so that's out.

I do use a vanilla site too which can sometimes result in a dominant man finding me and there are often more suitable men on there in more general life terms but best to look in both types of place. Some people would not dream of ever going on a sex related website or BDSM site but are very dom so can find them on vanilla sites. On the other hand I do sometimes get someone on a vanilla site who is appalled when I start to explain how I am made or how a dominant man might be despite my profile saying I am submissive.

I agree with ClassAct2006

The majority of the submissive/kinkster partners I have found have been on vanilla sites such as OKCupid, Plenty of Fish and I do have a paid subscription with match.com and another niche paid site. Fortunately I get the paid sites when they are on offer so not too much outlay there.

But it always seems that the real action is in the states! But I do appreciate I need to visit more local events to find deeper inroads into my local scenes.

I just could not crack FL and have had an active profile on ALT for a while. I do like it here on CM - the discussion boards alone are worth it!

What he said lol. I'm a little late getting here. Thanks Remote.

Everytime I go to fetlife it seems most of those there are under 30 years old and I always feel like I'm hanging out with my daughter's friends and that just feels creepy to me.

Great thread.

As for Bondage.com...it seems like it's really a paid site masquerading as a free site...right? You can't message anyone unless you pony up-- is that correct? Or am I missing something?

You can message others and join in the chat rooms but you can't look at the vids and other premium stuff. A few years ago they were bought out. Before that though it was like here and was a free site.

That's why everyone moved over here to Collarme.

I love the BDSM humor forum on www.fetlife.com
But the regular discussion forums are often run by serious content Nazis and any non-PC thread gets deleted ASAP.
