We really had a LOT of fun!
There were some things a little messed up...like the times of 3 out of 5 of our excursions got changed on us at the last minute so we missed them (refunded, but missed, yes I was quite pissed about it) Of the 2 we did end up doing, one of them was kind of lame but the other one was awesomefuckingtastic! Had to be the coolest thing I've done in my entire life ;)
The complimentary food in the main dining room was kind of suck (I'm an amazing cook so they had a high standard to aspire to and they failed LOL) The complimentary buffet was also kind of suck, but most buffets are and they had 6000 people to try to feed so I do give them a little leeway for that. But the specialty dining was AMAAAAAHZINGGG! Om Nom!
The 4 places we went were the Steakhouse, the Italian fine dining, the Mexican food place and the Sushi bar. The service in all of them was exceptional, as was the food ;) The best part was that because of the screwed up shore excursions I had gone to guest services to have a fit over them and they comped us the dining package...so we got to eat at all 4 places for whatever we left for the tip. I think all our waitstaff was very happy with us ;)
Short pants had a blast on the zip line and the flowrider (simulated boogie boarding) and he met some friends in the childrens activity program (while Mr and I went shopping for shineys). He absolutely fell in love with our stateroom attendant in an oler auntie kind of way...she was wonderful and I wanted her to come home with us <grin>.
None of us were overy impressed with the shows on the boat. There were 3 aquatic type dancing/acrobatic shows, one of them was more high diving stuff and trampoline. Short pants didn't have the patience t sit through them, he would rather be climbing the rock wall...which he missed entirely because they closed it for a show that wasn't "scheduled"...he was rather pissed over that LOL.
Mr and I visited the casino twice. We didn't blow very much money., it was more fun sitting in the bar area with the rest of the smokers exchanging war stories ;) I did enjoy a couple of the penny slots though and the poker machine...I won about $15.00 at the poker machine, but was having fun so I let it ride till it was gone hehe.
The parts of the trip that I enjoyed the most were the 3 shopping trips we took...I had a great time haggeling with the shop owners to see how low I could get them to go in price. They always started out a bit higher than I would have paid for the same item even here in the States, and I got them way way low...I had 1 jewelry store owner threaten to toss me out LOL.
I was a little frustrated with the duty free alcohol/cigarette shops. I took a look at the prices and decided saving a couple of bucks wasn't worth carrying the extra luggage.
The drinks on the boat were FUCKING STRONG! In fact whenever I got something I had to make sure to tell the waiter or bartender not to overload me on alcohol. They used all top shelf spirits so even though it was smooth going down, it woulda knocked me on my ass quick if I wasn't watching it. I was enjoying trying the different types of drinks they had to offer and didn't want to get schnockered...lightly buzzy and happy, not falling down stupid drunk.
Overall it was a decent vacation. I very much doubt we will cruise again though. The crowds, the waiting for elevators to get back and forth, and our plans getting fucked up at the last minute have put me off for the most part. I got very very sick of tripping over other people's children. I just cannot believe some peoples rudeness (if you're going to bring them, at least keep control of them or someone might throw them overboard god dammit) OH! and they also goofed up my massage/hair appointment too. The massage was really nice, but the guy made kind of a mess of my hair AND I had to wait over an hour after my appoinbtment time to get it done because one of the other girls in the salon had fallen behind so the guy I had my appointment with had taken one of her clients and I had to wait until that client was finished. I didn't give much of a fuck though because the massage therapist had just spent 75 minutes beating me up from shoulders to toes and I was kind of floaty <grin>
Next time (probaby for our 25th wedding anniversary) the plan is to rent a house on the beach with a pool in Greece, maybe even have a full service housemaid for however long we go for (any volunteers?)...peace and quiet, lots of sun, beautiful ocean views an NO ONE ELSES KIDS!
Oh, and as for relaxing goes..we didn't get much of that at all. The week was way too short, we all felt rather rushed, especially in the ports. We did so much standing and walking every day that by the second day I had swelled up like a puffer fish, even my face was really puffy. (All the picutres of me look terrible because I look so fat) Mr was actually considering taking me down to the medical area to make sure everything was ok. Though I was tired, and my feet were killing me, I felt fine otherwise so I talked Him out of it....so we could go wait for the fucking elevator some more LOL.
My favorite part of the entire vacation was being able to spend so much time with Mr...I want to go back to vacation, I hate that He has to work ;(
Ok, withou further ado, here are a few of the pictures we took. I got a lot of really beautiful sunrise and sunset shots as well as a bunch of other stuff...all in all, including the videos I took of short pants on the flowrider we got 544 ;)
