Yeah, they are about where we and the USSR were in the 50's.  Let's not be puking on our shoes, they have been at this for 10 years or more actually.

In the past it has suited Chinese policies to back North Korea, this time the Chinese dont seem to amused with the rocket launch. My guess is North Korea want to use the weapons as a bargaining chip for some more "aid"

Well, the fact that there are vast amounts of aid for NK coming out of China, and trade and they are about their only friend in the world, but they do sit on the security council....these guys are putting China in a losing face position which can't be their best day on earth....

I think as China becomes more modernised, NK will become more isolated as a direct result.

Well, nations are a lot like people... they have personalities.

You've got your beer drinking, hard party types like Ireland, Your romantics like France, your laid back types like Sweden, your straight laced types like Britain, your authoritarians like Germany, your affable doofus like Canada, your folksy outdoor types like Australia, your religious nut balls like Iran... and then there's North Korea... the paranoid schizophrenic of the group.

Probably not a good idea for a paranoid schizophrenic to have nuclear weapons.

And before anybody asks, the United States would be the multiple personality of the group. Probably not a good idea for a multiple personality to have nuclear weapons either but too late... we've already got them.
