The problem with payment plans and setting up accounts and such is that with pets, these types of things will reoccur. If it is removed, it most likely won't be the last one. They seem to crop up frequently once they start, at least that's been my experience with such things with pets. How many times are you going to need to set up payment plans and such?

You might also want to check into pet insurance. Master has it on his cats and it works out well and I don't think it's that expensive. It will help you in the long run. If you can't afford that either then my suggestion above still stands.

Yes we are saving for it. It will get done. I always find a way to get them what they need.

That sounds high, but then I'm here in the sticks of Indiana.

My white cat (Spooky) had a similar thing, just a lump under his skin. He never bothered it and it never seemed to bother him (though I admit Spooky is not the sharpest knife in the drawer).

It cost about $100 to get it surgically removed.

Vet costs are quite a bit higher in California than some places, for sure. My aunt lives in oaklohoma, and when she had a dog, stuff that would cost me 5or 6 hundred dollars for examPle only cost her 100-200.

She was very surprised just how costly vet care here was in comparison to ok.

At 15 surgery would kill him (almost did when younger) if its a cyst with a continuous scabby center & cyst seems to grow when it bleeds you are talking about squemous cell carcenoma at worst...cutting it off stops or slows down the spread of this deforming skin cancer. This is a worst case scenario...just have it removed & stop torturing yourself on the internet.
I have seen this in end stage its not pretty & very treatable early on

My first dog had one in his throat that grew from the size of a pea to the size of a golf ball in a week, and another in his side. A year later, he grew more...and got leukemia. He was only 5 (best estimate from the shelter + 3 years we had him), and a lab mix. We didn't put him through the removal surgery again-- it would have just been extra discomfort and expense during a losing battle.

I fired our vet when it came time to put the dog down, and they wouldn't show up on the day we asked, which is what we'd arranged prior. We found another vet who would, same day of the call. I miss that dog.

They don't take payments, and I don't qualify for any kind of typical payment plan offers of credit. Neither of us do. The vet we go to is actually cheapest around pretty much. But we'll get it done one way , or another.

I called around and found a REALLY low low deal to have Calley may seen for a second opinion and aspiration look at her lump, they're 28 dollars for new clients, 18 dollars for the looksee, and then if you need blood work to see if your dog can handle being put under they have a mini panel that's only 30 instead of 150 for the looksie, and 79 for the panel. I don't know how much the removal would be, but they're already far cheaper for the aspiration than her regular vet is.

Her primary vet didn't want to do an aspiration or a cytology until after he had it removed and only if it looked suspicious, and i wanted it aspirated or a cytology and I wanted to know for a fact as for sure as the test could tell us what it was, with this second opinion they may not even recommend removing it.

if I was a bird i'd be preening my feathers, i am so happy wwth myself for finding a reasonable cost..
