1. Whenever someone in our party does something wrong, we should find examples of where the other party committed the same offense instead of holding our own officials accountable.

2. The War on Drugs has made this country safer. Same goes with keeping prostitution illegal.

3. There's bias in some news outlets, but not the ones that we prefer to get our news from.

4. Though Americans believe we've been on the wrong path for some time, it's best just to go back and forth between the two major political parties instead of trying to find a viable alternative elsewhere.

5. When someone within our party becomes moderate in their positions, it's best to ensure they're voted out during the primaries for someone who adheres to the party line.

6. We both love to rack up deficit spending and love to blame the other for causing it all.

7. One of us prefers big business while the other prefers labor unions; yet we both love Big Government!

8. We've spent $6 Billion cumulatively in campaign funds to tell you how our strategies will help the disadvantaged instead of actually using that money to help the disadvantaged.

9. When it comes to education, lets use blanket metrics to try and improve test scores instead of providing either the resources or the strategy necessary to help under-performing (and often underfunded) districts perform with the same efficiency as their wealthier, productive counterparts.

10. When push comes to shove, both advocate for the same terrible practices that create different economies between the wealthy and everyone else. The difference? One party acts hypocritical when called out for these beliefs while the other embraces it as what's "best" for America (despite all the evidence to the contrary.)

I will be the first democrat to admit that I can find a lot to agree with here.

Political satire aside, I think that both parties are more alike than they are different. I'm just baffled that more people don't seem to realize it.

Surely in the USA, as in most western so called democracies, the main parties are more or less the same, separated largely by nuance than actual substance. Western democracy is a contrick with capitalist parties fighting capitalist while all exaggerate their differences. Whoever wins the election the banksters get in because they own the politicians.

In 1962 Britain was actually a democracy, it had a two party system and you could actually vote for a social democratic party. Now the UK is a s bad as the USA with a choice between a rightwing capitalist party, a more rightwing capitalist party and an even more rightwing capitalist party. Democracy died at the end of the 70s and people actually voted for the capitalist debt they are up to their neck in nowadays. People just wouldn't accept cheap capitalist debt is not so cheap when you are up to your neck in it and they want your blood when you can't repay it.

As a libertarian, I couldn't agree more, and I wonder why about 90% of the electorate can't or won't acknowledge these basic truths. Loyalty? Tradition? Blind faith?

Because we are all being played by the people we elect, does not matter on the party. They create the false divide and we choose sides instead of looking at the common ground and demanding more.

It is easier to put the other side down, then to admit we all agree on most basic things

Who does not want safe food to eat? Who does not want a safe area to live? Who does not want a good education for their children? Basically no one, yet look how we fight over these basic issues, yup we are being played...and they spend a lot of money keeping us that way, divided.

There is a lot to agree with as an independent...but...lol

How does he know it has NOT made our country safer.. I personally think it has...as for prostitution it is a state thing and legal in at least one.

As soon as PBS is caught purposely embellishing or altering a story I will agree...until then I think PBS is unbiased...despite what Republicans say.

Responsible people who do not live in a fairytale know that change will only come from within an established party.

Democracy at work if you don't like it move to Mali.

Despite all the hoopla this economy over time has worked better than any other...and the only other countries to challenge us economically copy us.
So it will not be easy to find an alternate way to do things considering this system is the best the human civilization has come up with so far. Otherwise it will not be an easy task to figure a practical alternate way..."despite all the evidence to the contrary.”

Other then the above i do agree with much of what was said.
