Like some of you folks havent been doing that for years.

What the hell is making all the crazies come out and be so destructive in the past few months?

They've always been there. Something seems to have pushed them over the edge.
I'm going to polish off my tinfoil hat here and posit an hypothesis.

The Mayan Prophesy. I'm not saying it's true. I'm saying that all the attention that has been given to it has a special attraction for the unbalanced. They see the world ending and want to go out in a blaze of glory or they want to make sure that some folks are spared the 'inevitable suffering' that will happen friday. Kind of a Martyr Complex as it were.

Thoughts?

Do you honestly think the cunts who are indulging in this fuckwittery give a flying fuck about the "Mayan Prophecy"?
Looking at most of these twats, they probably can't read, and wouln't read that, even if they could read, because it's nasty pagan evil written by people with tattoos and body piercings.

Yes, and that is precisely what the people spouting Prophesies WANT. They WANT weak-minded people to freak out and react, so they can sit back and watch the resulting chaos.

I'd like to think they'll eventually run out of Prophesies, but they'll probably turn around and say, "Oops, we were wrong when we translated it...the actual year will be 2022"...or some such stupidity.

Anyway, I stopped listening after Y2K failed to be the apocalyptic disaster they promised us all.

I don't think Terence McKenna is around to give a fuck about the consequences of the horseshit he was spouting about Mayan calender twenty years back. What does he get out of it, apart from looking completely stupid when the world's still here this time next month?

Hard economic times combined with the holidays. Violence increases during both, mixing them together is a recipe for disaster.

my thoughts are that if you are serious you are nearly as deranged as the crazies and if you are trying to inject some humour into this subject you have badly misjudged the situation

That was the Aztecs. The Mayans were long gone by the time Cortez turned up.

In lieu of traditional, boring vegetable offerings to the Mayan gods, JELL-O is offering a fun sacrifice of pudding in an attempt to save the world from the impending apocalypse.

well it's either true or it's not so you are either serious or not, which is it? If it's not true as would appear to be the case then my comment about misjudged humour stands

Do you have any angle on my own suspicion that this isn't much of an excuse when you look at the idiots who've been kicking off lately? I repeat my point that they don't look like the sort of people who shop in the "new age" section in Borders, and they probably don't carry any of that stuff in Wal Mart in the first place.

Go back and READ the original post.

Here is my question. I will type it slowly so you can understand.

Do you feel that the MEDIA ATTENTION to the so called apocalypse (which I don't believe in) has possibly triggered some of these crazy people to violent acts?

This is my serious question.

Was this clear or should I go to words of 2 syllables or less?
