Let me know because i kinda like my facts to be sll factlike and stuff

That same article listed some dollar amounts thst didnt jive with the 15% so now i am really curious. I figured huffington would have a trustworthy number.

I Googled "NRA Corporate Funding". About halfway down the page is an article by Josh Sugarmann with Huffington Post, dated 7/24/12. Last paragraph of that article gives figures and the percentage. Looks like the figure is reporting between 2005-2010.

Sorry I can't link it from here. Article is titled, "NRA Reaps Profits From the Internet Ammo Sales It Made Possible".

Title seems slanted, but if the figures are correct then....

It also links to a 2011 study by the Violence Policy Center (never heard of them) which lists the NRAs corporate sponsors and how much the contributed.

I am trying to figure out why the level of corporate funding matters. Even worse if regular citizens are fucking stupid enough to send their money off to mass murderers like wayne lapierre.

I have always refused to join the NRA when the telemarketers call.

I simply say, 'You are not extreme enough.'

They go silent and hang up.

(If you knew my background and how I came to that rebuttal, it would make a different sense than I think the entire impression is leaving). I have not read the thread or voted, cuz .............well cuz it wouldn't be fair.

I read it as saying 75% of the corporate funding is from firearms companies, not 75% of ALL their donations.

Same assholes complaining about Union "Bosses" giving NRA money and lapierre pulling down a nice mil for his efforts per year.

I just read it and re-read it and yep, that's what I'm seeing now, too. It's written kinda funky, so I misunderstood it (either that or it's written just fine but threw me anyway).

So combining the articles, $227M comes from members and anywhere from $15M-$39M comes from corporate sponsors. In reading the link to the Violence Policy Center, I'm seeing the same, although their document states that "the gun industry bankrolls the NRA" - not sure how they have come to that conclusion now. THEY state that $20 (roughly) - $52M comes from corporate sponsors, and the above figures of $15-39M is from the gun industry.

I have to say, I'm surprised, too. I would have guessed corporate sponsorship to be much, much higher.

The gun industry is not as profitable as people think, look at how many have gone bankrupt. Many are vanity businesses run by people as a sideline. Or they make a marginal living.

Sacramento used to have Colts #1 distributor, the largest private machinegun dealer, and more. Hell, i know the guy who.makes all the machineguns for the army. Its a small industry outside if drfense contracors and the few like sig and glock.

But 15% surprised even me! However, you wont see anyone here stop saying its corp money.

The NRA scares politicians,for this reason, they are a serious grass roots lobby with fairly deep pockets.

Mike, your article only lists a total since 1985 for corp funding, doesnt break it down by industry, doest give a.percent and doesnt.list member donations...
