toys or clothing size 8-10 or bedding or what not. I am electing to give her my comforter I bought years ago never used and decided to sell, but would rather give as an x mas prezzie.

And the other mom who has a girl who's 6 and a boy who's 7 is looking for gently used toys and I have decided to thin out some of my toy collection and give to her too if she's willing to take them.

I'm in Baltimore. There is one of those mothers (ok more like 10) on every corner here where I live.

It's like that here in Sacramento, too, lw. But that's nice of TFTB to donate her things. I'm a big advocate of donating usable clothes/toys/kitchenware, etc. I usually do a clothing drive every year and it fills up the entire trunk and back seat of my car. Was just too tired this year, with all the family stuff going on, but I ended up taking a stuffed trunk-full of my BIL's clothes, so the tradition didn't end, after all.

Yes it is very nice but I'm an advocate for helping out in the place where you live. It's not just about giving but about pride in your city and wanting to better it and it also helps to prevent urban sprawl, crime rates, education, etc. You can do more where you live than in helping others quite a distance away.

But yes, TFTB, if's nice of you to help. Maybe you could go around to your neighbors and friends and telling them about this and seeing if they will help.

I agree, about helping locally. We're both local to Sacramento. The clothing drive I do is for a local organization that assists qualified, low income residents. My hair stylist and I also collect toiletries to donate to a local women's shelter. The same organization was good to me when I left my ex husband (I didn't stay at a shelter, but they helped in a way that was very meaningful to me) so I like to give back to them.

I do help out in the place I live. I volunteer 5 minutes away from my house at a no kill shelter, and I keep an eye out on freecycle for posts from ppl in my area who need things I may have and don't want. I gave away perfectly new looking clothing to a woman's shelter, only thing "wrong " with them was they no longer fit., some items were brand new never worn or 90 percent new. All very nice .

Hk mom is less than 30 mine from me. I looked in on an old lady everyday for a few years as a kid. She had no local family or friends and couldn't keep her house clean. And it was really filthy and unsafe so I cleaned it for her. In hind site I should have called aps, but I was just a kid. I didn't know to.

I gave 6 45 gallon packers of brand new crafts I had for years and never used to a low income mom teaching crafts after school, I gave away 8 bags of fabric to a local mom 5 mine away who wanted to learn to sew and couldn't afford fabric nor patterns.

I was volunteering with the church to help homeless for a while, I even donated blankets to the now gone ho shelter n and I always try to get nice things to help the receiving home give kids Xmas prezzies, and backpacks because most kids come in with Jada but a trash bag, if that.

Yup. I am asking neighbors and friends.
