57% of Americans now say gun control laws should be made more strict, up from 39% in April.Support for stricter laws is now higher than in a CBS News Poll conducted after the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in January 2011. 47% backed stricter gun laws then, butthat figure dropped off in polling conducted about a year after the incident. While more than half want tighter gun laws, three in 10 think laws covering guns should be keptas they are. Only 9% think gun laws should be less strict http://www.scribd.com/doc/117172535/CBS-News-Poll-Gun-Laws This seems to be an on going trend among all polls. CNN/ORC Poll. Dec. 17-18, 2012. N=620 adults nationwide. Margin of error ± 4. "A ban on the manufacture, sale and possession of semi-automatic assault guns, such as the AK-47" 12/17-18/12 Favor 62 Oppose 37 Unsure 1 8/7-8/12 Favor 57 Oppose 42 Unsure 1 ABC News/Washington Post Poll. This one is what I expected. Favoring in regards to the question... "Would you support or oppose a law requiring a nationwide ban on semi-automatic handguns, which automatically re-load every time the trigger is pulled?" While opposing... "Would you support or oppose a law requiring a nationwide ban on the sale of handguns, except to law enforcement officers?" Supporting... "Would you support or oppose a law requiring a nationwide ban on high-capacity ammunition clips, meaning those containing more than 10 bullets?" http://www.pollingreport.com/guns.htm So tell me again how people want to permanently ban all weapons?
