I'm starting to get flashbacks to the Trayvon Martin thing, when every single press release was assumed to need its very own thread.

I'm guessing then, that you missed how the Trayvon spamming was resolved.

I think we'd need a couple threads, though. One for reasoned discussion, and another where all the people who hate anyone who owns a firearm can agree with each other.

I am starting a terrorist group for the reformation of the super continent Pangaea. I want ever country to stop spending money on the military and concentrate on developing the technology needed to move the continents back together to form the super continent.

That makes about as much sense as states saying they will leave the union.

SimplyMichael -> RE: States will leave the union (12/19/2012 7:07:59 PM)

All i am saying is that i had heard that the attorney generals of three states filed briefs with scotus for Heller that had some such language. A friend brought it up today and i posted it. Problem,is that its rather esoteric and i couldnt, find,it with, google.

Are you cleverly trying to trick me into posting about other posters, rather than the topic, Lucy?

As I skim and scroll through the buffet of gun control threads, we have people who are fanatic/fetishistic about firearms, people who understand the importance of gun rights in the American experiment, and people who hate the first two groups.

Yes. I have guns in my home. Nobody is going to come and take them. Not because they'll have to pry them from my cold, dead, hands, but because nobody is going to come and try.
There are a couple of people in my life who have freaking arsenals. The last time I saw one of them, he handed me a completely legal Bushmaster .223, likely identical to the one used in Newtown, and told me that it was the one he had for me, should the shit ever hit the fan, and then he put it back in the safe. Nobody is going to come take those, either.

Too many gun-owning democrats have the same rationalization working about Democrats and gun control, that I have had working on Republicans and abortion. They will revolt at the polls in 2014, if the Administration overreaches.

I'm not freaking out about the possibility of more gun control. Yeah, we're gonna get some. More paperwork. More bureaucrats. Maybe more rules stupid rules governing what we do in our bedrooms (guns in the nightstand qualify [;)]).

I think it is a shame that those victims are being turned into poster children for anti-gun posters that were already saved in the files, waiting for the right set of pictures to slap on.

You said it, not me, Im just wondering where your "exact" people who hate gun owners come from
or were you using written inexactitudes???
Or just being an ass?
Edited cos my fingers arent working properly

Just another example of "reasoned debate" Lucy [:)]

Lucylastic -> RE: States will leave the union (12/19/2012 8:16:09 PM)

Or its, moral comparison/ confirmation bias, LMAO
AGAIN

DarkSteven -> RE: States will leave the union (12/19/2012 8:22:06 PM)

SM, I have no idea what's involved in secession, but I suspect just filing a brief won't suffice.

Lucy, I've already decided there isn't much point in any engagement with one poster who takes anything broadbased I may say as a direct personal attack, and will then happily feel completely justified in resorting to filthy slurs on my character in response.

Let's just stipulate that you were nowhere near my mind in the original comment. Do you deny the existence of such contributions to the conversation?

Yes...the point is that there are two issues where states are seriously telling the feds to fuck off, pot and guns. Its one think for some nut jobs to sign internet petitions, its a very different thing for a state to officially put the feds on notice.

jlf1961 -> RE: States will leave the union (12/19/2012 9:35:42 PM)

The United States Supreme Court has ruled unilateral secession unconstitutional while commenting that revolution or consent of the states could lead to a successful secession.

To be honest, the 14th Amendment would make it damn hard for any state to secede.

Trivial to find:
