I could use some advice, lol. For our second year collaring anniversary, which is still something like half a year away, I plan to have bo's butt cheek tattoo'd. He is one hairy beast, lol.

Yesterday just for fun I cuffed him to the swing and shaved his butt. Damn it's WHITE without all that fur!

Anyway, it might be more convenient or fun to remove hair there in other ways, but I am concerned about what it would do to a tattoo. Does anyone know if something like an Epilady is okay? Waxing? Nair?

I wouldn't want the tattoo to fade prematurely...I hope some of you have experience with this. Thanks in advance. [;)]

I doubt any kind of waxing or hair removal will damage the tattoo except if you decide to get it lasered off permanently. The tattoo is not just the top layer of skin so it's not going to rip off or fade it.

Waxing is probably one of the better options. Friend with show quality tats waxes & for one had hair laisered off before doing tattoo (huge wraps her entire leg).
Epilady yanks & even a sadist has to have some sympathy sometimes!
Nair is harsh chemicals & likely will interact with the tattoo.

In my opinion FULL manscaping is a must!! Hairy ass or back are a never ever![:'(]

Thanks. I kinda wondered if...Nair would seep down the hair shaft and bleach out the tattoo. I also wondered if ripping the hair out would leave...I dunno...scar tissue under the skin? (Stop laughing youze guys!)

I talked this over with bo, and darndest thing...we're different when it comes to hair rippage. I prefer using an Epilady on my leg hair. bo was like, "Ripping some hairs out one at a time??? Aaah! Please let it come out all at one time."

I tried waxing before. Gah! It hurt like hades.

You shouldn't wax just before having the tattoo or for a few weeks after as waxing causes trauma to the skin and the chances of an infection are more likely.
cream hair removal is definitely one of your safest options prior to the tattoo or shave it off a few days before. Cream removal is safe to use once the tattoo is healed (2 to 3 weeks)

Once the tattoo is in place never be tempted to have laser hair removal as it will burn and discolor the tattoo.

before having mine done on my bikini line i shaved as was due to be waxed a couple of weeks later. was waxed a couple of weeks later and all was well. since then i have epilated the area with no change to the tattoo.

if the hair is long trim it down before epilating as it will hurt less.

considering professional waxing was like $200 and skipped lower back ass and scrotem i got to shave that then gave strict instructions to keep the grooming up himself. was VERY amusing to hear "Ma'am can you please help me shave my ass, its just not working the way you like it. he he he made WONDERFUL punishment for not keeping up...at home wax kit quickly brings out your inner sadist!! didnt i tell you to keep this up? rip i told you the salon lady did a good job...rip at least she felt bad abou this RIP RIP RIP
