Been shot, but never shot a gun myself.
I do have a starter cannon, things awesome.
set off a mortar round too

Took out a hundred plus pound mule deer with a bow
but not nearly as impressive as shooting a plump quail outta the air with a bb gun

Exidor -> RE: Extreme gun! (1/2/2013 8:20:45 AM)

Ingram submachine gun.

Pull trigger. Laugh madly. Reload.

It doesn't matter if it's pointed anywhere in particular; it just sprays brass and noise while feeling like I'm holding onto a runaway jackhammer.

It's an utterly pathetic sheet-metal excuse for an ugly firearm, but it has FUN turned up to 11...

MercTech -> RE: Extreme gun! (1/2/2013 1:14:47 PM)

It seems, in military land, it is much easier to write off ammo expended on the range than to turn it back in when it reaches its shelf life.

This lead to three weekends of using a Browning 50 Cal to do shark hunting from the door gun of a Sea Stallion.

Exidor -> RE: Extreme gun! (1/4/2013 5:01:44 AM)

I heard that from a friend who spent a lot of time in helicopters.

They *could* have just dropped any spare ammo near me so I could feed the Barrett, but nnooo...

jlf1961 -> RE: Extreme gun! (1/4/2013 6:52:42 AM)

The "extreme" weapons I have fired in my life are the Barrett .50 sniper rifle at a subject (I was in the military at the time) about 2000 meters away.

The GE Minigun. Actually was allowed to cut down a rather large old oak tree with it. I think that it could, if properly used, replace the chain saw for felling trees.

But in all actuality, my favorite weapon was the issued sniper rifle provided me by the US Army.

Yachtie -> RE: Extreme gun! (1/4/2013 9:40:18 AM)

I dropped the hammer on my .458 Lott. Just once was enough. Thought my shoulder was going to break. It was a gift years ago. Not sure why I keep it. No elephants or cape buffalo around here.

Uh, considering how many exotic animals are imported to stock private hunting resorts, you never know.

Pretty sure he meant a 40mm grenade launcher, Mk19

mm that makes sense

lovethyself -> RE: Extreme gun! (1/4/2013 3:34:05 PM)

Though not the biggest, I really liked shooting my friends .22 cal lever action rifle. I even kept my target and put it up in my office at work.

For shot guns, I've shot 12g and 20g. The 20g fits me better, and I do much better at trap shooting with it.

DTP the part I think you missed was CT (and most schools nation wide) are gun free zones.
The baby reported in the Aurora shooting with "missing daddy" was my neighbor. Theater was marked gun free so his personal carry weapon was in the car...where he couldn't protect his kid or baby momma...where he couldn't stop a guy that sprayed hot brass on his child...where he could only run & hope to find help (that never came)

As for me...TX sheriffs dept range qualified at 8. .38, .45 & tried with the .357 until it blowing me off the bench was determined unsafe. 30/30 almost my entire life & currently shopping for new personal carry weapon.
Coolest? Tank was coolest but didn't get to see what happened.[X(] 50 cal was probably the closest I've ever come to knowing what a woody feels like.

That's actually a federal law. You can't even have the weapon locked in your trunk unloaded.

Umm how exactly does one go about retrieving that kind of game??

While it is considered a felony offense, the laws concerning carry on non-Federal properties are State laws.

In Tennessee, its perfectly legal for a carry permit holder to be armed while dropping their kid off at school so long as they stay in the vehicle and do not handle the weapon. This has been the law for several years now.

We also have legislation moving through to allow carry permit holders to keep their sidearms locked in their vehicles at their place of employment including schools.

When I was in HS, during deer season 5-10% of the cars including mine in the HS parking lot had a rifle in the trunk.[8|]

I grew up in rural New England. Town was 1200 people and mostly dirt roads and trees. It was the same in our parking lot.

ladynlord -> RE: Extreme gun! (1/7/2013 4:30:44 PM)

Let's see....an M-16 with M203 grenade launcher and an M-60 belt fed fully auto machine gun. Lots of other things with triggers, but those were the most extreme so far. Not counting the AK-47 or the SKS (both in 7.62x39) ... even though some folks would consider them extreme.

SWDesertDom -> RE: Extreme gun! (1/7/2013 4:52:12 PM)

M256, pushing about 5500ft/s, tons (literally) of fun. Don't get a hernia loading it, though.

M2s are buckets and buckets of fun to unload at the range too.

Powergamz1 -> RE: Extreme gun! (1/7/2013 5:08:54 PM)

That bit about picking up and dropping off kids is what the Tennessee statutes said when I checked a few years ago.

That isn't quite what 18 U.S.C. § 922(q) says:

(B) Subparagraph (A) does not apply to the possession of a
firearm -
<SNIP>
(ii) if the individual possessing the firearm is licensed to do
so by the State in which the school zone is located or a
political subdivision of the State, and the law of the State or
political subdivision requires that, before an individual obtains
such a license, the law enforcement authorities of the State or
political subdivision verify that the individual is qualified
under law to receive the license;
