Well, he could have saved everyone a lot of fuss by not running in 2008 and 2012 then.

omg....the ultimate in cognitive dissonance. They lost and can't handle it, so now they are saying that he never wanted it anyway. Laughable. And sad, in a way.

If one is going to compete for things, one has to know how to gracefully accept defeat.

If he didn't really want it, why would he run?

I felt kind of sorry for him in his "I lost" speech. Both he and McCain looked so hollowed out post election, I felt sorry for them.

ETA:
I think Mitt wanted to win just to acquire the title, not because he has any flaming ideals he wants to put into action. Mitt was in it for Mitt.

That was pretty much how it was with Dub-ya, too. Someone commented that there are leaders and there are rulers: Cheney-Bush didn't care about leadership, they just wanted to rule. That seems to be pretty much how the Radicals think any more.

I totally agree. I think Mitt was in a way in competition with his daddy. Mitt didn't really want to be governor of MA, either, as seen in that he pretty left office before his term was over and didn't run for re-election. He ran for governor because his daddy had been governor of MI. And he ran for president because his daddy failed to get the nomination. It took Mitt 2 tries to get the nom., so right there, he's out done daddy.

Glad he's done. Hope to never see another Romney in public office anytime soon.

well, that explains why he did such a freakin poor job at running for it...

Come on, he wanted it, he tried twice (this time he got farther).. those are not the actions of someone that doesnt want the job.. not to mention I expect it cost him a bundle of cash.. being the stingy dude he is, he wouldnt have done that otherwise

the poor guy is butthurt and his fragile ego battered beyond recognition.. come on people, show some compassion fer the guy!..

We are, considering. That, and none of us wants to get mod-slapped by being fair to 'the poor guy'.

Romney is having a crisis of faith, he was under the delusion that god called him to be president.

I will leave it at that.

Can ya blame the guy? Not only do we have a fantastic President and Vice President, but he couldn't even convince 1/2 the GOP to vote for him.

He was only being altruistic...doing us all a favor by running, to lead us through the darkness set upon us by that Socialistic, Communist, Kenyan born black guy!

Perhaps in 2016 we should ask the Republican nominee right up front if they want the job and just save ourselves an election if they say "no".

Jeb? I thought the only reason the chimp was put forwards as a candidate was because Jeb was unelectable...

Not Jeb, his son George Prescott. To lure those wily Hispanic voters into the regressive intolerant fold.
