Status: offline 		"Have any of you ever met someone in a really vanilla setting, say at work or church, and gotten the very strong feeling that they were D/s'ers?

And have you ever found out that your feeling was right?"

I was reading old threads and I came upon this one (Posted in 2004 by Katrina) which reminded me something I noticed the other night about someone I work with. My first thought the day he started working there was that he is submissive. As I got to know him better I realized that I am probably right.  Only time will tell, but he has all the earmarks of being submissive. Course what that means to me may be different than what it means to others.
 
How about ya'll? Have you met anyone who you suspected was dom/sub/switch (Yes RS, I wanted to make sure I put switches in there, lol) and later found that your first intuition was true?

What a powerful statement! Are you joking? Do you view your submissives/slaves as victims? I am not knocking by any means, I am just curious as to what you mean by the above statement.

How many years have you been guessing? No offense, but you are very young, not that it matters when looking at someone's intuition how old they are, I do not mean to denigrate you based on your age, but frankly I have clothing older than you...smiles.

I do not think you would guess me as a submissive unless someone I felt submissive toward was present...lol. I remember when a domme I knew from political activism found out I was a submissive, it floored her. She thought I was a domme for sure...laughing here.

The older I get the more I find out I do not know much, but that is just me... etc

Status: offline 		I have been feeling the presence of those who are Dominant since I was a child.  I didnt know what it was, nor did I understand it.  I also believe alot of people that I sense this in, do not realize they have the "gene", or have not allowed it to surface.  I feel and act differently around these type of people;  it's involuntary on my part.  Its almost like a yin and yan thing or ( I hate to use an old cliche) but its like a magnet to steel.  The pull is very strong.  This can happen to me anywhere, and sometimes unexpectedly. But its unmistakable when it happens, even though I may never cross that person's path again.

Status: offline 		Oh god, yes. I had to take a first aid course with all my co-workers one professional day. The instructor pushed us very hard in the morning session to keep us on track. (There's a lot of ground to cover in those courses.)

When he declared a break, he pulled out a bag of licorice, told us we could each have one for working so hard, and that everyone who got back from break on time would get another one.

Through-out the rest of the day he handled my fellow co-workers with an amused firmess that had me rather...distracted. I even heard him say good girl, more than once. Amazingly, no one seemed offended. LOL

By the end of the day he had all my co-workers (all women) eating out of his hand, and I had no trouble picturing him going home, slapping a collar on some lucky woman, and leading her to the bedroom for a good spanking. ::sigh::

Status: offline 		lol Cin! That is a great story. The thing is, I have the hardest time getting along with a dominant personality at work. I have to bite my tongue so many times. Some times I just come right out and ask him if he wants to whip his dick out to see who has the bigger one lmao! I can definitely tell who is dominant at work. Now, whether he practices it at home is another story. Wouldnt it be funny if he wore girls panties and was submissive to his wife when he got home? lol

Oh absolutely! I am a big fan of people watching. Analysing why people do what they do, what their words and actions really mean rather than the surface intention. One of the most abrasive personalities that works for me is a guy age 56 married to a icy cold surgical nurse. I just KNOW from his words and actions she totally runs his ass in more ways than he wants to admit. Another one is such a sniveling cry baby sissy boy(40 yo) I can picture him in pink ruffles with a bottle (as long as it had beer in it) hell, that boy would do anything for a woman holding his beer and smokes. Another, totally switchy depending on the woman he is with. Yeah, its definately obvious if you are watching for it.

Status: offline 		Yes, I have had intuitions about people that turned out in the end to be accurate. I've also had them that turned out to be false. I know that I am often mistaken as being Dominant. Actually, I think that most who meet me would be very shocked upon knowing that I am submissive. I am very outgoing and have a very strong personality. It's not a good indicator of my orientation or how I interact within a relationship dynamic.

This is priceless! lmao! I have the same jerk weed working with me and I just love to envision him in pink ruffles. Actually I would like to bend him over and whip him. I want to hear him cry like the little bitch he is. Hmm..I wonder....

Sure, we most often do this with children.

I label my younger nephew (4) a switch and my older nephew (6) a sub. But they told me how last week the older one leashed and collared the younger one and pranced him around the park like a doggie.  So who knows ultimately.

I think it's normal to get twinges from people and it's even normal to pursue those twinges.  But I am cautious because too many people think they can "convert" the other person (leading to all the threads we get about "why isn't he being the dom I want him to be") or aren't really willing to take the time and patience that it DOES take for someone to go from totally unaware to fully aware.

I simply don't date a person unless they are aware of my poly/switch/bi/kinky status.  Simpler for me.

Timely, MoGa! The "that he's in the lifestyle" hints/evidence from Friday's end of school year teacher's party, from someone I've known for a couple of years, actually, and never really thought about one way or the other. He was hitting on me, but I'm just going to give the lifestyle stuff, all of which took me by surprise...

First: The second I arrive and sit down, he gets up and gives me a head and neck massage because he "could tell I needed one"...

Second: When offering to teach me how to surf, says I'd look hot in a wet suit, that everybody looks hot in a wetsuit because they're rubber...

Third: Asks if I prefer leather, rubber, pcv, or barbed wire... twice...

And the verdict is...? lol

Status: offline 		Oh yeah, definately been there.  I was a non trad college student a few years ago.  There was a guy in my algebra class that was dom through and through.  He had a presence about him that most men his age (mid 20's) just don't have.  As the semester wore on he made enough comments that I was about 99.5% sure he actively practiced wiiwd.

I think we all make assumptions based on someone's work behaviour that can be utterly wrong. I bet that guy does go home and put on his girl panties to scrub the toliet like a good boy. People often project a little too far in the other direction at work, in order to allay suspicion. LOL

But it's way too easy to oversimplify. I'm not always comfortable with assuming that "dominant" behavior at work, for example, carries over to the bedroom, or vice versa, because so many have pointed out that those who are most in control in their careers are as often most eager to shed those roles for their submissive fulfillment after work hours.

But while the behaviors don't translate easily, I think the intuition is valid ... especially when it is free of judgment. (I don't trust my guess about a woman I work with, for example, because I can't stand her and think I'd project too much of my dislike onto the role guess.) But I've had a number of correct guesses ... and a number that have turned out to be false ... not sure how much luck plays a part in it.

I especially enjoy doing it when I'm traveling, watching people in an airport and wondering what they'd be like beneath the whip, or wielding it. No way to check my guesses there, though.

Don't know that I "suspected" but there's a guy at work that I've been aware of since he came to the building where I work. It's not his looks, though he's nice looking. I had never talked with him. Just an aura/energy/something that got my immediate attention whenever I saw him.

A couple of months ago I opened an email on the other side that said the person had read my profile and was interested in getting to know me better. As I read the words his picture started loading. It was the guy from work. Seems like my submissive spidey senses were working well that time!
