They were all cartoon pics?

Yet earlier you said hundreds... which is it?

I don't mind a warning, but to find your profile deleted 30 mins after the GL I think is waay OTT.
If it just said, 'please do not report so many photos at once' - that I can understand.

Well, its my understanding only 2 people, other than owners, can delete a profile.

You might want to con tact VideoAdminAlpha and ask her why. I can only assume its because you sent so many reports .... something tells me you dont know how many you sent.

You misunderstood me. I was not referring to a general discussion on Nietzsche's views but making personal attacks on posters who favor gun control and identify as slaves. Posts that mentioned Nietzsche were pulled because they quoted a post that required removal; they were fine on their own.

We misunderstood each other, I think.

I never made a personal attack. I referenced a value neutral concept with an unfortunate name. This may have made it seem like that was a dig at the orientation of the poster in question, which it wasn't. That part is your misunderstanding, which I could've clarified. Based on this and the following exchange, I drew the conclusion that this concept is restricted to the Gorean subboards, and made a minor complaint. I am fairly certain, if you go back with what I've said in this paragraph in mind, you'll see how that conclusion was reached from what you said. This, then, would be my part of the misunderstanding.

Does that seem like a reasonable interpretation of what transpired to you?

Follow-ups were pulled, a policy I've commented on elsewhere, in this case based on a misunderstanding, which may highlight why there might be some merit to asking a usually well behaved poster to clarify when something seems unclear, or even firing a warning shot, not pulling a whole conversation. I'd like to think I've tried to cooperate with moderation as far as possible. If you feel this isn't so, I would appreciate feedback on it, because this is part of what I've agreed to do as a guest in the house.

As a minor grumble, not for you, whoever reported it could've just been civil enough to ask; I've been happy to clarify such things in the past.

IWYW,

Do you honestly believe the way to change anything is to tell the powers that be that they are not following their own rules when, in fact, they are?

Let me cut this one down to a manageable size: The point is a predictable environment in terms of cause and effect.

If you can agree that's a desireable thing toward the goal of a healthy forum, I'm sure Hillwilliam can agree that's the crux of his position, also.

I have no problem with his position. I do have a problem with some of his assumptions and how he is going about trying to effect change.

You know, there's a little part of me that thinks the mods are just happily letting this little free-for-all happen. Sitting back, watching, (smirking), thinking "You don't want moderation? You got it. Have at it."

Overall, over the whole 3 or 4 days, (4 days on one account, 3 days on another), yes, there were literally hundreds. I guess I reported close on 300 pics in all.
And, yes, they were all cartoons or similar - nothing that could even remotely be considered within the ToS.
And I did immediately desist when I got the GL - that still didn't stop the profiles getting removed.

I see zero TOS violations in this thread.
Noone is calling anyone names.
Noone is mentioning illegal activities except to say they're verboten.
Noone is attacking anyone.
Noone is attacking anyone's kink.
Where would there be a place for them to step in?

Should one effect change by acting like everything is just hunky dory and doing nothing or should one effect change by enumerating what changes need to be made?

Yes, I guess you might indeed be right about that. I'm actually having a hard time following....I couldn't really tell. :)

Okay, just a quick bit of feedback from the sidelines: I'm not sure you're getting that point across very well, and I'm not sure you're getting that point over to me as a disinterested party on the sidelines in the exchange. Same for him. That's why I suggested the above rephrasing of what I see as the core of his position, which seems like a starting point it should be easy to work from for either one of you. It's incidentally also one that, down the line, converges with most other issues that have been raised on this thread and the other threads on the same/similar topic(s).

Just trying to help.

My point is simple

We have written rules.
Enforce them exactly as written.
Don't make up new rules on a whim.

~fr~

Just a minor observation.

Some have suggested this thread is all drama and bitching about the moderation. If that is correct, then what does it say about the health of a forum that the most active thread since the Newtown massacre and subsequent consolidation has been the purported "moderation-related drama and bitching" thread?

I prefer to see this as a thread that shows how many people care about CM, a thread that shows the potential this place has, and shows the number of people that want CM to be around, thriving, and who care enough to invest time in what they think might be improved to make it what they hope it might be.

Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm posting here because CM is good and can be great, not because I want to slap anyone.

Some of these are quite stunning. The ability of the artists amazing. Wouldnt you agree?

And if those artists posted them, its allowed, as far as I know, because its their own work.

In black, since you don't do well with the purple. [:)]

I have to tell you, I'd have probably sent you a cease and desist letter, too. My next step after that would have been bugging the legal types who drew up ToS if there was a better way to deal with the uploading pictures gig. One that wouldn't get us into hot water for trademark/copyright violations and such while maintain the 'we'd prefer you don't misrepresent yourself' spirit of the thing.

I'm a stickler for rules as well. However, I also believe some of those rules are more important than others. While somebody is sifting through hundreds of cartoons that you reported, that pic on somebody's profile with a kid and a dog in a <cough> compromising position <cough> is now taking hours to be removed because the system is being clogged up with drawings of bunny rabbits and teddy bears.

Yes, some of them are quite good.

But do you really honestly think it's the original artist putting these 'photos' up?
Of all the thousands on CM, there maybe, just maybe, ONE genuine artist uploading their own work.
And even if they did, if it's commercial art, they aren't supposed to - point #2.

DigitalPlayThing -> RE: The decline of collarme (1/7/2013 3:55:51 PM)

For the record I have been on and off this site for a number of years with a few different profiles as they keep getting deleted. That said I think one of the issues nowadays is the making domination/submission so much about money. All I see are 18/19/20 year old girls just wanting money, with no real regard to the mindset of the subs they want their money from. This in turn causes guys to become skeptical, guarded, and really just not wanting to buy in. I understand a professional but so many of the profiles on here are young girls just saying "Give my your wallet bitch" with no understanding or care for the synergy between Domme/sub.

It seems so much more about money, than actual lifestyle anymore and it creates an atmosphere of negitivity...

Well there are my two cents for all it's worth.

Ok, allow me to try again.

I have seen people say that the mods here play favorites.

Yet, the favortism goes many ways, as evidenced in the "gentle reminders" from one mod when regular posters step out of the very obvious guidelines on a thread and that mod did not ban anyone.

I have seen people say that the moderation is uneven. In that, I agree, yet, if they were to apply it evenly, then people complain its too heavy handed.

I have seen people complain that the administration doesnt follow their own rules, that they make up rules on the fly, that there is no written basis for many of these rules.

Yet, their own rules, which we agree to every time we post, allows them to make determinations on the spot. Posting Guidelines and TOS both allow for them to do this.

There was a complaint about how a certain poster cannot make posts on certain topics... yet.... http://www.collarchat.com/m_1565420/tm.htm

It was a rare thread that he didnt bring it around to a certain belief he held near and dear...the topic didnt matter.

..........

I, personally, believe a better way around this might take time, but might be worth the effort. One would be a place where all changes in rules and regulations are posted. Not scattered among the threads.
