If I had to guess, I'd go for three reasons: 1 - it would be extra work to change it, and it's a free site with limited volunteer staff 2 - they aren't losing many users due to the limited categories, so there's no business incentive to change it 3 - there will always be more labels and designations and they can't possibly include them all. If they added another eight, say, then a bunch of people might take offense that their label of choice wasn't included. They might be seen as giving more importance to a particular label or group.

It's a two-pronged issues. One is a software/coding issue. The original software is very old and out-dated, I'm not sure it's even possible to change. If it is possible, someone who knew what they were doing would have to go in and change some code. That's not hard for someone with even a small clue. The second issue is that now that it's been changed and you have 10 items on the list instead of four, many of those old people who joined up previous would now want to be changing their orientation. The software is so old, I'm not sure how the system would even hold up to that. It depends on how it was set up in the first place. The underlying foundation is basically a data base of information, and one thing all data bases looooovvveee is conformity. Lack of conformity will make it crash. I'm with stef, I'd love to see CM get some new software.

I would like to put baby girl because switch doesn't quite fit me, Yes, I am a switch, but I'm more of a baby girl and I like to portray myself accurately. You also don't get listed I believe when people search for switches if you're not listed as a switch. That assumes the role is stored as a string instead of a number or some such to save space which is likely how I would have coded it. no reason to include one of the same 4 strings in each record. Even if it is stored in a way that might require some database changes this should be a pretty easy change to make assuming they have someone who understands the whole system. It would likely be a lot simpler than the changes made to the interests lists in the time I've been here.

If it's for both of you, make a couples profile. If it's for you, then most baby girls online seem to list themselves as submissive because well....most are submissive. I can't really say I've seen any that are switches. There might be but since I'm hetero, I just haven't seen them. So either make a sub profile and put that you are a babygirl in your profile. 'It's the software' simply doesn't fly. 'It would take a little extra work' to consolidate underused forums and make one for other orientations to talk about non-Dom/sub stuff, is more like it. In CMLand, there are only four twoo ways, and sadists, masos, etc. are not a priority.

On the forum side I agree with you on all counts Powergamz1. Clearly they could create a forum in about 30 seconds. I think the site would benefit from a top/bottom and/or sadist/masochist forum. I'd love to see a "theory" forum for those of us who like to be all intellectual and whatnot. I absolutely agree that there's room for improvement there. On the collarme side I don't know what software that is but I suspect it's custom or highly customized. If I'm right about that it means endless miles of spaghetti code and it's almost certainly true that the cost/benefit wouldn't work out.

There is a data analysis question here that's worthy of thinking about. it's hard to search for names that contain something like "baby" in them. It's easy to search for a specific data value in a field like "slave". More significantly though, the more we subdivide the categories the more precise each search is. That sounds like a good thing but that's not necessarily true -- particularly since our search terms are so incredibly undefined. I know there's a few baby girls who switch on fetlife, but they don't switch with their Daddy, they switch with other people. I still hope to make friends, and being labeled as a baby girl is more affective than just putting it in your profile. I think, It allows others to identify you with out wading through profiles. I'm with stef, I'd love to see CM get some new software. Yes, CM has to do something. Not just fix existing problems. If they don't they will suffer like "myspace" did. They did wait too long with their improvements, now everyone is on FB. Once the advertisers (and users) start to move, CM will be doomed. They must do anything to keep the advertisers happy! IMO the most pressing issue for the users is to move the site to use https. With today's issue of data security and privacy concerns probably a very critical one. This before anything else like additional features. I fear with the current state of the site, CM may be better off, making a brand new development. In any case fixing or new, it is going to cost money and work hours.
