Nice thread.

I have been known to send the odd apologetic CM to a few on here, when I feel I have crossed too personal a boundary.

Kana -> RE: Does your conscious ever bother you over what you’ve said on Collarme? (12/29/2012 7:40:05 AM)

Oooh, much agreed. When I'm an ass, I apologize pretty much on the spot and move on with life.
I don't like to let things sit.
But on here, I think I've made one apology (I misunderstood something Tazzy wrote, realized it pretty quickly, and fessed up to my error pronto, as in w/i a bout 5 posts.) over all the years as a CM denizen.

And that's no accident. I do a lot of self editing. I think things through when I write.I try to see it from the other persons side, ask myself, "How would I feel if this was written about me."
It's not hard, but it demand wee lil things like self discipline, restraint, maybe even a smidgen of empathy, as well as demonstrating an ability to rise above the feces-all of which I think are positive attributes, not just in a Dominant, but a civilized human.
On the rare occasion that I argue, I try to do it with and from facts, not people. Cripes, Alphas recent comments about how to disagree properly in the forums could have been lifted almost verbatim from a few back and forth exchanges we've had in the past re some of my posts.
(Though I would be lying if I said there aren't some people here who every time they post I go, "Whhhaaaaaaaaa? WTF is crazyboy ranting about now?" But I almost always just stay out of those threads because I learned a long time ago that it's almost always a bad idea to debate a lunatic).
Which ain't always easy, but I try and maintain a certain level of decorum.
Now, I'm not saying I haven't blasted people ( I have and will again.), or openingly mocked their posts (Which I do all the time), heck, I've torn posts apart line by line and called dumbasses out on their shit (Which, come to think of it, I haven't done for a long time. Maybe I should keep an eye out.)but fuck, those idiots deserve it.
That's when this place becomes my favorite thing, a chew toy.
Or, as referenced above, Rockem-Sockem Robots.
In those deals, yeah, the chance someone's gonna get an apology from me, or that I'm gonna feel like I owe one is damn near negligible.
People have a right to write absurd shit. I have a right to blast em for it.
But I tangent, madly at that.

So yeah, in general, apologies are terrific. I'm not knocking them one bit.
But you know what's even better?
Not having to apologize at all.
That's a good feeling, lets me walk through life with my head held high, owing nothing.
And it really ain't hard to do. Be an example for yourself. Be an example to others. Act with word and deed to be the better person.
Making this a better place for all, or at least holding my end of the deal.

Nah, I am not naive, I am just shallow.

Thaz -> RE: Does your conscious ever bother you over what you’ve said on Collarme? (12/29/2012 8:07:21 AM)

Over the years I've learnt to think and read what I post and remember to double check in the mornings and when I have low blood sugar or am otherwise generally grouchy.

If I DO give offense then I either apologise or I meant it or I remain blissfully unware....so no I dont get bothered much.

TNDommeK -> RE: Does your conscious ever bother you over what you’ve said on Collarme? (12/29/2012 8:38:48 AM)

A lot of times in the morning I respond to posts and then later realize that I made no sense what so ever, lol. Good thing I caught it in time to edit. I am zombie-fied until I have coffee, so I think there should be a "not responsible for posts until after the first cup" clause.

DarkSteven -> RE: Does your conscious ever bother you over what you’ve said on Collarme? (12/29/2012 9:15:58 AM)

There's one particular poster who riled me up every time I read his drivel. I simply blocked him and my blood pressure is much better off, at least till he starts up another sock.

Spiritedsub2 -> RE: Does your conscious ever bother you over what you’ve said on Collarme? (12/29/2012 9:17:54 AM)

I've sent a couple of apologies in the few months since I started posting here. Sometimes I joke around, always with the people I like most, and then see that my intent didn't come through. It has been a learning experience to draft and understand text when there is no body language, smiles, nothing but stark text conveying your thoughts. A little tricky. Apologies are a simple way to fix.

I understand that. For me though, my "Cheers" bar would be with real life faces of people I know in real life.

21 years ago, in another lifetime I used to be a bartender, and I like this place a lot more.
[;)]
Okay missy, I am scratching you off my Cheers list.
No stool at the bar for you!
No soup for you either, so don't ask.

Butch, I need another drink, I am not driving tonight, thank you.

This is my "online" Cheers bar, damn it.

...but then it would be 'Martini'...wouldn't it ?

I once had a sig line that read 'Greed is fundamental to capitalism' (another blog) and attributed it to a quote by Adam Smith...the literary king of capitalism. A very reliable friend told me that quote was in his 'epic' book 'Wealth of Nations.'

A poster told me that the quote was mis-attributed. Neither he or I could prove our case, neither having read the book, so while I did not apologize, as Smith could have said it...it being true, it was a favor.

I make the stipulation, now attribute it to myself and rely less upon others' quotes. Not a big deal but we all want to be at least as accurate as possible.

hlen5 -> RE: Does your conscious ever bother you over what you’ve said on Collarme? (12/29/2012 9:36:02 AM)

I've apologized a few times for the way I have said things. I try to remember once it's posted my sentiments will always be out there in the ethers, floating around for others to find. My conscience has bitten me more than once.

I seem to spend a good part of my time typing...." In my opinion" ...that way I allow myself a point of view that can bend the facts a little without being nailed to the wall by people like tazzy who always seems to find the real facts...[:D]

Now this is something i should do and I admire those that can do it...but I get into a flow or train of thought and if I stop to analyze too much I often lose my direction. I seem to think best fast and furious rather then planned and calculating...Not sure how smart my technique is..But I will say it is honest anyway.

Lucylastic -> RE: Does your conscious ever bother you over what you’ve said on Collarme? (12/29/2012 10:34:16 AM)

Nice one KD, and kudos.
For myself, I apologise when Im wrong, or someone has taken something I said the wrong way. My problem is that (amongst others) is that I can be sarcastic, use irony, and not think to put it in sarcastaquotes and I speak/type with an english accent, which fellow brits usually get, but others dont. I know I have offended some when I havent meant to. and luckily its cleared up in mail, and I will apologise publicly.
Its one of the reasons I try not to use generic labels, eg, when I use the term "ignorant/stupid" *label*"...... I dont mean all *labels* are stupid/ ignorant, but just those within said *label*

angelikaJ -> RE: Does your conscious ever bother you over what you’ve said on Collarme? (12/29/2012 10:40:30 AM)

My general rules for my choosing to post are:
Do I have something to offer?
Is it kind or compassionate?

There have been times when I have posted things that upon review were mean-tinged and I have sent a cmail to the person to apologise.

Yeah, that cheating bitch likes to fight with facts! Whoever heard of such a thing? LOL
Like you, I'm kind of in awe at her ability to dig up real facts as opposed to regurgitated left/right blog pablum

kdsub -> RE: Does your conscious ever bother you over what you’ve said on Collarme? (12/29/2012 10:45:07 AM)

Hmmm strange...you've never apologized to me...[8D] I am kidding Lucy I've always got a kick how you use sarcasm to make your points...You keep things from getting boring. And as may times as you've used your sarcasm on me and others it does not bother me because I always get to look at your sexy avatars...but of course I am not being chauvinistic it is your mind that turns me on… I mean that makes me think…[:D]

Lucylastic -> RE: Does your conscious ever bother you over what you’ve said on Collarme? (12/29/2012 10:51:26 AM)

LOL actually I have once I believe KD, I know we have also agreed to disagree and leave it at that.As for the avatars, well I happen to like butts :) they please me, that anyone else enjoys them is icing on the cake:)

What a thoughtful thread Butch, I don't see why this thread needs to be moved, it is on topic right?

Your conscious is tied into your spiritual/religious beliefs, right?

[;)]
I think we all need to be more respectful and thoughtful about the "tone" we use, and how we talk to others online.
It is possible to have a discussion with someone you disagree with/and has a totally different point of view, without demeaning the other person, and talking "down" to them, because they DARE look at things differently than you.

I decided to TRY to take the "high road" on here years ago, which is why I don't even bother responding or posting on many of the "heated" threads.

Many here are like a dog with a bone on many threads and topics, and can argue endlessly ad naseum, and for what?
Often, the back and forth dialogue/when people continue to say the SAME DAMN THING 50 different ways, make the parties involved appear a bit "unhinged".

[sm=argue.gif][sm=rantint.gif] [sm=beatdeadhorse.gif]

I often think, damn let it go, Move on.
Many people on here argue like their lives are depending on it, and I hope that is not the case!
Live and let live/ To each their own!

Viva la Difference
Peace

Ha ha!

People who regularly drink the Koolaid and vote for Republicans and Democrats, referring to anybody who doesn't as wearing tinfoil hats ... now THAT is funny!

If one points out the infestation of corporate mandarins in our government, or points out the possible pharma influence on the flu shots, or anyone who might take notice that 26% of the kids in our schools are on meds due to the identification of various 'anomolies' as only brought to our attention in the first place by the pharmaceutical industry ...

Hey, Marini, my hat is shinier than yours,

No, not at all.

When I speak of a "Cheers" environment, it has nothing to do with enjoying spirits, and everything to do with CollarMe being a wonderful ALTERNATIVE lifestyles online environment to "hang out" on.

CollarMe is a place I can log onto, put my feet up, discuss a variety of topics, read/listen to a variety of opinions, LOOK at interesting people/and body parts [;)], see familiar names/faces/persona's, express myself/ feel comfortable, and also let my freak flag fly.

Cheers!
