FR

Are you going to take their exams for them too?

TheBoyDownBelow -> RE: Homework Slave (12/29/2012 4:25:41 PM)

If the OP would be any good in doing "homework", he would have noticed that this is not the board to post that ad. [:(]

~FRing it~

Yes, lets make sure the princesses stay dumbasses for not doing the homework themselves.

I always smile sadly when I see "homework slave wanted" on a profile. It's about the most anti-feminist request I can imagine. "I want to have value only because of my youth and figure, not my skills or my mind. Oh, and by the way, I am superior to you."

Then I hit the Hide button.

Wait, wait....let's not be hasty.

What subject?

autumnember -> RE: Homework Slave (12/29/2012 7:05:44 PM)

I take academic honesty pretty seriously. If she is going to be a doctor i sure as hell want her to have passed by her own merit

LadyPact -> RE: Homework Slave (12/29/2012 7:18:09 PM)

It just occurred to Me what fantastic blackmail evidence this would make should the slave ever want to turn the tables on the princess. Being able to prove to any prof that princess had handed in a paper done by somebody else would give the slave excellent leverage to get the princess right in his pocket.

They still toss folks out of class for ethics violations, yes?

My thoughts exactly. And now when they say "it goes on your permanent record" they mean it.

Plagiarism is a huge focus in continuing education today, much more so than it ever was. It is vigilantly watched for, and has stringent punishment- mainly being expelled from school. In the classes I have taken recently, all of the students sign a paper on the first day of every class saying that they are aware of the campus ethics regulations, and they have had the punishments explained and understand them. It is not some small triviality to toss aside - I'd imagine if you got expelled from one place, you probably wouldn't ever be accepted at another.

Where were the homework slaves when I was at university? I could have used someone to dig through JSTOR and find articles on whatever topic I needed to write a paper on, give me a summary of each so I knew which ones to download, and screen other resource materials for relevance. There is nothing more tedious than searching for reference materials and that would have freed up a lot of time for me to work on other assignments. Proofreading would have been helpful too.

You know, guys offer this a lot and I really just can't understand it.

I mean, I know some people go for it.... It's just not something *I* can wrap my head around or do.

For me:

Why in the world would I trust someone else to do my schoolwork? I want the best possible grades I can get, therefor I have to do it myself. I can't trust/rely on someone else to do it as well as me.

And even if I could... what would be the benefit of going to school and spending tuition money if I was going to have someone else do all my work; I wouldn't be learning or getting anything out of all the money I was spending.

I admit I'm a control freak and a miser, both, so I'm sure that has a big affect on my view and feelings.

But yeah, not something that could ever be done by me.

RumpusParable -> RE: Homework Slave (12/29/2012 11:28:12 PM)

Oh, and for the record as well:

When we get put-it-together furniture in this house, I'm the one in charge of putting it together. When Chael has done so he's had to do it by himself in stealth.

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Homework Slave (12/30/2012 5:57:02 AM)

What is the point of a home work slave?
Don't you still have to know the material for exams?
What's to stop the slave from blackmailing you with the lil tidbit that you didn't write your own papers.
Colleges, have zero tolerance for that. Many will kick you out. PERIOD.

No thanks, if I am going to school.
I want to pass and get my degree on my own merit.
I want to know I earned that and nothing was handed to me.

I agree with what everyone has said. I can see the fantasy as serving the bratty princess, but it's one of those fantasies that doesn't translate well to the real world because it puts someone's education (and therefore future career and finances) on the line.

Now the kind of homework slave I could have used was one who brought me cups of tea while I worked, made sure I got fed, rubbed my achy shoulders, ran down to the store for printer ink, proofread for typos, screened my calls and basically took care of everything else so I had some interrupted time to actually do the homework myself.

Goodness yes, or preparing my stuff for the next day- laundry, getting my lunch ready, making sure the car has gas, organizing my papers and making sure the relevant books/notebooks are ready to go. THAT kind of slave would be my dream come true, it would make my academic life so much easier and help me to function at my best.

Quite honestly I'd never trust anyone with doing my work for me, I'm always at the top of the class so I'm going to do a better job than anyone else. Having help with all of the other things is where it would count for me.

THIS
Hell I could use this kind of slave the days I am editing and posting updates and descriptions.
My friends call me the typo queen. Lol

NIMH -> RE: Homework Slave (12/30/2012 6:50:01 AM)

I am with autumnember on this one. I worked my ass off through accelerated courses for 4 years to get both my Bachelors and my Masters degrees in differing fields. So I take academic honesty extremely seriously and am insulted when someone tries to get my help cheating. In the past (when my profile was public) when I was approached by people on here I would smile, pretend to take it seriously, and then get the assignment from them. I would either not do it in the deadline required or I would backtrack the document to the school and/or author of origin and then from there send a very compiled, very informative letter complete with profile links, email attachments, etc. etc. to the persons department head, Dean, and registars office. Too many people have sacrificed, worked hard, and did what was right academically in order to further their own lives or the lives of their families for the better for academic integrity to be mocked, insulted, and abused without any repurcussions. In one instance the young girl (not a woman, a woman does not act like this) even had the idiocy to give me critical information about the town she lived in and her job as a dental assistant downtown. So that was real helpful when I found out the town only had about 1000 people and two dental clinics and I sent copies of the same information I gave to the college to those employers. After all, I don't want people who are not honest helping me out or working in my business and these employers needed to know just who it was they hired.

DarkSteven -> RE: Homework Slave (12/30/2012 7:03:06 AM)

Fella, you're 22 and 5'11". Any relation to this 22, 5'10" guy who posted about homework slavery?

Also, you say you're "well educated". May I ask what that means?

Edited to add: And if you are the same guy, as I suspect, then why did you state in your profile that you're new to the site, when the other profile joined a year ago?

RumpusParable -> RE: Homework Slave (12/30/2012 8:26:33 AM)

What Athena said, as well.

For helping with school I *could* see having a slave who was helpful in ways other than actually doing my homework. Do the laundry or get me dinner so that I could avoid breaks in studying that night, maybe running to the library or bookstore when I need you to when I give you a list of books I want for research or have you google the heck out of stuff so that *I* can later weed it, connect it to hard/reliable references, etc.

Someone to take the weight off me while I did college work would be nice, but not someone actually doing my homework.
