I enjoyed reading all the treads to this topic....However, for Me, this is a day of grat sorrow........
I envy those out there that are "Dads", as a matterr of fact I am extremely jealous of you....
Today, as with a few other days of the year, My eyes are filled with tears.....
you see, I buried My only child, a son, in 2001, was a very clean and good kid..no drugs or the sort....
Pancreatic Cancer killed him at a young age....Diagnosed in March..Died in November....and the pain never leaves Me...
I have learned to live with it, but the "missing" part of My life never leaves Me.....
So to all of you Dads...Love you kide, hug them , kisss them, tell them how much you love them....I wish I could.....
Happy Fathers Day.............

God that is awful ... I couldn't imagine my world without my children .. and if something happened to one of them I would be a train wreck for years .... just know this .... your son is looking down on you from heaven thanking  you for being his Dad I'm sure.

ON a lighter note tho ... I am officially making this Dads Year . and allowing all who wish to cook me breakfast in bed this year to please do so .. lmfao

Cin I can't say I understand your pain as I've never buried a child of My own issue, I do however feel your sorrow...
I'd like to offer a suggestion & Please take it as just that, Why don't you become a Volunteeer Father??? There are Many children out there that need & in fact are desperate for a Father's attention... I'm sure it won't erase your sorrow but it could be very fulfilling to You & it could change your Life & that of a needy Child...

I want to send a thanks to Dads that took a while to learn to be good Dads. I know it's kinda a silly, spesific thanks, but my dad, through a whole lot of difficulty, has, in the past three  years, become so much closer to my sister and I.

I loved him before, but I admire and appreciate the effort that he put into learning to be a better dad to two semi-adult children. It means a lot to me that he was able to admit that he hadn't done so good thus far, and...I dunno.

Thanks you, Dads.

Being a Dad myself I know I have made mistakes in rearing the children ... thats called human nature ... I am the first to say I am not without error .... <even tho I tell some I am a God> lmao

Seriously tho it is in how we learn from our mistakess . and the steps we go too to make the situation better that only makes us better . it is good that your Dad learned to do something better and become a better Dad .. He seems like a very caring and loving Dad ... you know what makes his efforts evewn better for him .... you go pick your phone . call him and say nothing more then Dad I love you for being my Dad. thats all .... His eyes will swell with tears knowing deep inside everything he's done is so very worth it. I know as a father I would love to hear even once that my efforts were appreciated by my children ..... not all the time . but just ONCE. I know shortly before my Dads death I hugged him and told him straight up ... Dad .. thank you for being my father ... that had to be the first time I ever saw my father cry .. even tho he wouldn't admit he did ...... hmmmm another thing me and him are alike in ... dam that dust blowing in . got some in my eyes
