The two sites seem optimized for different things. Fetlife will be more helpful to you when you have questions about particular gear/practices or want to find out about events in your area.

Ah. I was posting in the thread about the Decline of CollarMe entries that should be here.

My (anecdotal) experience:

Fetlife -- 2 years, dozens of potentials, about a dozen possibles, ten or so dates scheduled, two that were bombs (stood-up/freak), a couple that just didn't have chemistry, and a half-dozen successful play partners, one who ended up becoming my current sub/girlfriend. They were all in the 18-26 range; all were hot. One scam attempt.


CM-- 6-8 months, a half-dozen prospects...leading to...nada. About a dozen scammers.


OKC-- 5 years, several possibles, one date. No scam approaches.

alt-- 5 years, one chat. Several scammers.

I am a professional. I work in an office, with people who are professionals. I am rarely client-facing, and when I am, they are professionals. I work. I get up, I go to work, I work, I come home. My house is a half-hour away from any social activities. I see about zero women during this time.

There aren't many woman "friends." There are even fewer who are not instantly disqualified by working in my office or in my field or in my sphere of influence. There aren't women in my life, unless I have a woman in my life. I am not going to hit on the barista, for certainty I become That Creeper. I am not cruising in the supermarket-- I am shopping for gorgonzola. When I am without woman, I go looking for woman. The Interwebs helps this effort immensely. Thank you, Interwebs.

Fetlife- 1 serious potential close to meeting

I'll take a closer look at fetlife....

And i completely agree that Kink is totally not a good idea to mix anywhere near you work Period!

OP, can we at least agree that women have an advantage on these type of sites? Whether it's for play, friendship, or anything else, is just plain easier for chicks because there are more guys than gals on both sides of the kneel. That post "men hunt, women weed" is very much what I'm referring to.

If I actually put up how many people I've met, played with at least once, played with on a recurring basis, and/or had D/s dynamics with, you might be inclined to say that I was inflating the truth. I'm not. There are a number of people on these forums that can confirm that.

Again, it's different because I don't "date". Also, just about anybody that contacts Me on sites like this basically gets told the same thing I've done for years. I'm willing to meet them if they want to do so at a kink event that I'm already planning on attending. Being female, that cuts out a lot of the bullshit for Me.

I've had a lot of success on Alt, but I couldn't tell you the state of the site now. CM and Fet I've also had great success, but in different ways. CM has led to more private parties (meaning not munches or community sponsored events) and Fet has led to more kink community tied stuff. CM has the person to person search that some people prefer. Fet has the event type search that other people prefer.
