We hear about Obama's citizenship for a couple of reasons. First we have the douchebags who will latch onto anything to reject that a black guy could get elected POTUS, second, because the birther label is a convenient way to smear anyone who raises the legitimate issue of Obama's, "otherness," from mainstream, "normal," American culture.

Peon,

The birthers are the reason that I hoped so much that the 2008 election would bring about a US Supreme Court ruling on what exactly "natural born citizen" meant.  It is unfortunate that it did not as it was the perfect opportunity.

The court spoke when it refused the case.......

What part of frivolous do you not understand.......?

The NBC thing is as ridiculous and as phony as the certificate of live birth vs. birth certificate nonsense(notice how the words "birth" and certificate" appear in each example?[8|])

Trying to make the whole birter thing or any part of it legit, by cloaking it as an intellectual exercise just adds to the viciousness and insult.

The whole bigoty birther bull shit is a question designed NOT to be answered....  but rather is to be hurled as an insult.

A fake question ,that`s never meant to be resolved....on purpose.......so it can linger......a republican dirty trick as old as Ronald Reagan.

Archer (a republican) once acknowledged that his party was full of bigots, referring to them as the crazy uncle in the attic.rich used to call the President "Barry"......which is a bigoty-birther term......but now claims he`s not one of them.....right........[8|]

Honestly, Aylee, I'm not eager to see SCOTUS looking for even more esoteric meanings in the clear phrasings of our Constitution. A US citizen from birth, as opposed to someone who became a citizen at a later time. What's hard?

What constitutes a citizen from birth?  Location or parentage or both or either?

According to US law, either.

When Romney's dad ran for POTUS back in '68, it was well known that he was born in a Mormon colony in Mexico.
Noone said shit.

Then why were there questions about McCain and why do we keep having to hear about Obama?

Obama has an unaceptable, to the birthers, level of melanin in his skin.

Because they cant say shit. Romney was born to two citizens of the US.

Obama was born to only one, which leaves a vague enough area for man to latch on too. If you go back and look at the citizenship laws in effect at the time of Obama's birth....

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/citizen.asp

... covers it all quite well.

Basically its as follows....

What are the rules for people born between December 23, 1952 and November 13, 1986?

Again, children born abroad to two US citizen parents were US citizens at birth, as long as one of the parents resided in the US at some point before the birth of the child.

When one parent was a US citizen and the other a foreign national, the US citizen parent must have resided in the US for a total of 10 years prior to the birth of the child, with five of the years after the age of 14. An exception for people serving in the military was created by considering time spent outside the US on military duty as time spent in the US.

While there were initially rules regarding what the child must do to retain citizenship, amendments since 1952 have eliminated these requirements.

Children born out of wedlock to a US citizen mother were US citizens if the mother was resident in the US for a period of one year prior to the birth of the child. Children born out of wedlock to a US citizen father acquired US citizenship only if legitimated before turning 21.

Now, comes the good part... was his mother married?

One of my favorite make fun-times thing to do is to snooker unsuspecting cons-birthers(yes I meet them from time to time)by acting like I never heard of the issue and upon being told about it,make like I don`t care  or pretend that yes ......I think he was born in Kenya, but,lol I think it`s "kinda neat" or something just as aggravating and watch the blood boil, with them trying frantically to say no, it isn`t ok.

[:D]

Had a good one last August ,who I was stringing along for hours during a cocktail party.Told her I was "undecided" and open to voting Mitt.....[:D]....man she was try`n hard......

jlf1961 -> RE: Birthers Are Like Zombies (12/30/2012 5:35:37 PM)

Alright, let me see if I get this straight.

1) Birthers are like zombies
2) Zombies are cannibalistic undead humans
3) According to Hollywood, the only way to deal with zombies is to shoot them in the head to kill them
4) But if you shoot birthers in the head, you go to jail for murder, cause, under the law, they aint undead cannibalistic humans

The federal government is run by Undead supporting politicians in league with the Voodoo Priests and Priestesses and dont give a crap about the living humans in the country.

Because the "A Team" was a top rated television show for something like eight years running [:)]

One really needs to know nothing more about the American populace [:D]

Owner59 -> RE: Birthers Are Like Zombies (12/30/2012 6:45:57 PM)

What if....years later....after the President has left office.....we find ir-refutable evidence that Barack Obama was indeed born in Africa(so was Jesus btw...just say`n)and in truth of fact, was not an American citizen?!

How would the cons react?

[:D]

Level -> RE: Birthers Are Like Zombies (12/30/2012 6:48:17 PM)

They'd go apeshit and claim any law passed while he was in office was illegal.

jlf1961 -> RE: Birthers Are Like Zombies (12/30/2012 6:49:14 PM)

Obama was not born in Hawaii OR Kenya, he is part of the alien conspiracy to take over the planet and was born on the third planet in the Tau Ceti system.

Better than "Oreo."  That was what my niece and nephews were called.  And THAT wsa in the '80's.

And frankly I have never heard any good terms.

If I recall your heritage correctly, I can see why THAT particular term would chafe you a bit.

If you can teach them to not foam at the mouth while looking under the bed for monsters, I might be inclined to cut them some slack.

Level, it's the foam that scares away the monsters.

At least have them clean the carpet while they're down there.

You misunderstood my post.

The race of a baby, unless confirmed by the mother, is often noted simply by looking at the genitals upon birth (boys). The area will be much darker. There are many who never grow dark skin or have the "traditional" hair. Almost all babies are born with blue eyes... not all, but most. So to say that Obama would have caused a stir by being born sorta made me chuckle. It could have been that, at the time of his birth, very few even knew.

Really?  I never knew about the genital difference (color/tone/whatever.)  Of course I did not see Roscoe's genitals for 5 or 6 days.

I knew about the blue eyes.  Our doctor about choked with mirth when on an early check-up visit I asked him when Butterhead's eyes were going to turn brown.
