I do not think that outlawing the parties would be effective. They would just re-group under new names.

Funny. I was travelling on an airplane recently and sat next to a nice woman. She was Republican and conservative in every possible way... EVERY way... both culturally and politically. It was a long tradition in her family. I'm more the "bleeding heart liberal" kind. And amazingly we both agreed that we'd be more happy to see 535 random citizens drawn from lottery than we would the people who are actually there. In a heart beat I'd have voted for her over Obama or Romney... I'd have to research Jill Green further to make the distinction there. She agreed... for all my bleeding heart and utter lack of experience she'd vote for me over Romney any day of the week without thought... or just that guy over in row 27. That really aligns well with approval ratings.

I agree, but Jeff I still don't believe MOST Americans are really ready to "deal with"/nor handle what the cuts will really mean. I hear people going on and on and complaining/bitching about Congress/President making a deal. My PRIMARY concern is "What and How is "the deal" going to effect ME/those I love/and those that WILL feel the pain/and will suffer after the cuts are made". I think we need to be more concerned able the DEAL that is made, instead of moaning about A deal being made. I guarantee you, many people have no idea what might be coming their way. Peace

This "cliff" has been on the table since it was conceived in Bush's days because the legislation had a time limit. Those in power kicked the can down the road a few times until that can started getting too heavy to kick properly without risking breaking your foot. So why haven't they been sitting round the table to iron out the problems much earlier? They probably have at times. But for too long now, the intransigence of one or other side of the debate has left it to reach critical mass. Neither side want to give an inch, even if it's for the good of the country as a whole. I reckon, if you picked a bunch of people at random, you'd probably get a definitive result, and certainly a lot quicker than those currently arguing the toss.

The dems become the Progressive party and the repubs become the Capitalist party. What their names should be anyway. Oh, and the fiscal cliff is more like a fiscal slope. $110 billion is 3% of our total federal budget. If the tax rates were about to cripple us, why didn't it, as EVERY repub said it would and voted against...Clintons first tax bill 1993 ?

The "people" never have been the government. The legislature is. The extent that people get involved is only to elect their successor 51 kings and their courtiers and judges. Yes I am talking about america. Does not do much good to declare martial law if the same guns are going to enforce it as enforced country prior to the declaration. Now getting rid of the 2 party system and having multiple parties was the way the system was originally designed. How about this; since our government requires that we are ALL technically employees (which is one of several reasons why they can claim immunity) as beneficiaries of the "trust" we as the duty-bound citizen-employees should have the same *government supplied legal representation and benefits* as any other government employee or member state agency. Think of the positive changes that would have on cleaning up the system.

Study after study has shown that modest differences in the income tax rate has no effect on job creation or GDP.

Martial Law would help only when there is a responsible, wise leadership in place. It is certainly not the case. These people can not lead you across the street (citing G. Celente). 2. Parties do not mean much. The real people in charge make decisions. 3. The chance random people fixing something is very small. I would suggest: restore the constitutional republic. It could be helpful.

thats a misnomer though. a constitution creates a police state. they are the supposed agreement of what the government is allowed to do to the CITIZEN who and everyone else who is presumed UNDER that contract. its what the corrupt democracy can do to you. Its civil law, all regulatory, hence administrative police power even though there is nothing in any of the constitutions that I (nor John Marshal) is aware of that "specifically" enumerates the lawfulness of a police state in america. Its all done by legal "construction" The articles were a league of friendship and had no power. the constitution created a single entity over all states, the state constitution over all counties and over all properties. Law on the other hand is case decisions in law or equity that have nothing to do with legislated code. statutes ords by-laws muni etc etc etc etc..
