is it just Florida? California had them in every public bathroom. it truly baffles me.
do tell are there toilet seat covers in your state?

I assume you mean ass-gaskets and not the fuzzy things that guys hate. The answer is no, but when I lived in CT they had them there.

Depends on where you go. The malls, the better restaurants and such do but if you're going into some place shadey or the cheap restaurants or any place run by a foreigner, you won't find them. That's been my experience at least but I try not to use public restrooms unless it's a nice place. Otherwise I wait till I can get home.

theshytype -> RE: No toilet set covers (1/3/2013 9:30:04 PM)

I've seen them, usually in larger establishments, but I tend to stay out of public restrooms at all costs. When I do see them, there is usually just an empty box where the covers are supposed to be.

in Florida, upscale restaurants don't even have them. what squeaked me the most was not even the public health department had them or any doctors office that i have been in.
in California, the toilet seat covers may be sometime empty, but there was a place for them behind EVERY public toilet.

i agree about waiting till you get home....not always possible and then there is always the request for a urine test in a docs office.
i actually had become use to not seeing them, but the other day i was visiting a darling lady in a large Assisted Living Facility in Daytona Beach and lo and behold there was toilet seat covers. the second time that i had seen them since moving to Florida almost 4 years ago.

i know a weird thread for CM. i really was curious and had to ask....lol

LaTigresse -> RE: No toilet set covers (1/5/2013 9:13:03 AM)

I am not a germaphobe so haven't noticed where they are or where they are not.

lmpishlilhellcat -> RE: No toilet set covers (1/5/2013 1:47:11 PM)

Some places have them and some don't. Like LW said usually the malls, movie theaters, and some of the nicer places. Sometimes you see the boxes, but more often the toilet seats themselves have the covering already on them. Then when you are done/ first come in, you can push a button and the plastic (or some material that's similar) covering is replaced. I'm not entirely sure how it works, but it rotates or something.

littlewonder -> RE: No toilet set covers (1/5/2013 1:55:00 PM)

I'm not a germaphobe either but after working at a courthouse in my former job with only public restrooms to access even for employees, after seeing the stalls, I can't even begin to describe them. Most days I would try to hold it as much as possible and when I couldn't I would go through every floor in the building to find a clean one. They were beyond gross. I've seen cattle farms cleaner than they were.

Impishlilhellcat...never saw the kind you speak of. i was talking about the tissue paper kind.

Latigresse...i am a nurse and also not a germaphobe, but i like some protection in the form of a toilet seat cover in public restrooms. i was taught as a young girl to use them. i had a little sister who once contracted crabs from a public toilet (she was 11 at the time). it freaked me out to even think you could get crawling things on you from a toilet.

littlewonder....providing toilet seat covers in government building rest rooms may be another reason California is bankrupt...lol

physically i have no problem squatting, but i always think of those women who have bad knees, bad backs or obese that may not be able to.

so what i gather from this thread is it is not uncommon for there not to be toilet seat covers in public bathrooms in this country.

littlewonder -> RE: No toilet set covers (1/7/2013 3:55:20 AM)

I always wonder when you see public restrooms that are soooo gross, do these people go to their own toilets like that?

everhope -> RE: No toilet set covers (1/7/2013 8:38:11 AM)

as a hospice nurse, caring for patients in their own homes...i have stories...lots of stories about peoples bathrooms.

LaTigresse -> RE: No toilet set covers (1/7/2013 9:07:31 AM)

I've seen a few I wouldn't use, that is for sure.

me not being a nurse but worked as a care staff for way too long....i know those stories, too.....*shudder*

Interesting thread, even when I am no entirely sure what you are talking about....cause I am having different possibilities in my mind, what you might talk about [&:]

NuevaVida -> RE: No toilet set covers (1/7/2013 5:50:31 PM)

I'm in California and you're right - they're everywhere, thankfully.

I'm not a germophobe, either, but I prefer to use them.

In Spain, not only were there no seat covers, but it was a rare occasion to see toilet paper in public restrooms. It was always good to pack small packets of tissues.
