OsideGirl -> An interesting tidbit (1/4/2013 2:20:34 PM)

I have a friend who just signed on CM and we were going through the emails that she received.

One of her criteria is that whoever it is has to live in San Diego county. She owns several businesses, her available time tends to be fluid and she's not interested in being with someone that she can only see on weekends. (Not to mention that weekends are the busiest times for her businesses)

In 24 hours she had 4 pages of emails.

1 - told her that he smoked pot and thought that it shouldn't count towards her "no drug users" criteria.

6 - were married or poly which violated her "must be single" criteria

2 - two were so disgusting that she just deleted them.

5 - met the criteria, but 4 of them were into things that she's not. So, that left 1 that she's actually talking to.

The rest either didn't meet the age or location criteria.

She gave a polite response to those that she didn't match or didn't meet the criteria. (Except for the two disgusting emails) and ended up blocking 6 people because of the vitriolic responses to her rejection. At least half of the men thought she was being frivolous about the location restriction (without even knowing the reason why she has it) and tried to push/strong arm/emotionally blackmail her into changing her mind. Most of the guys who were too old, just accepted it. Except for a 65 year old Dom that threw a temper tantrum in the middle of her inbox.

She's just out a long term relationship (8 years) and she's just shaking her head over how many guys just ignore what's in her profile.

littlewonder -> RE: An interesting tidbit (1/4/2013 2:33:30 PM)

My experience is that only 10% of the men read profiles online. They simply look at photos and even then I'd say some don't even do that. They just go down everyone on their profile list of who is on and message every single one of them.

It's amazing how many angry people there are on here.

I used to get the same thing when I was single but since I changed my profile to say seeking friends only, I get maybe 1 or 2 emails a month if even that.

lovethyself -> RE: An interesting tidbit (1/4/2013 2:46:59 PM)

I got that at the beginning too. At first I tried to answer most of them, even if they didn't fit my criteria. After a bit, I just deleted anyone that didn't have something to say about my profile in particular. It does taper off after a while. Even though I haven't changed my profile at all, I only get a couple of messages a week from new people, and most of those seem to be real people, or at least have something interesting to say.

Tell your friend to stick in there.

theRose4U -> RE: An interesting tidbit (1/4/2013 2:54:14 PM)

Damn I suppose setting her up with my brother because I can't stand his wife isn't ethical hum?

OsideGirl -> RE: An interesting tidbit (1/4/2013 2:55:25 PM)

LOL...I used to call my ex-sister in law "satan".

LafayetteLady -> RE: An interesting tidbit (1/4/2013 7:08:47 PM)

It all seems usual to me.  The only comment I have is that I wouldn't restrict my search to a particular county, but to a particular distance.  However, that is based on the fact that where I live, at least three counties (the one I live in and two others) have areas that can be reached within 30 minutes of travel time.  Your friend's case may be different.  Otherwise, it is all par for the course.

OsideGirl -> RE: An interesting tidbit (1/4/2013 7:50:21 PM)

San Diego county is huge. (So are OC and LA counties) The border of San Diego and OC County is about an hour away from her. So, really she's saying, if you're more than an hour from me, I'm not interested.

Thank you for this info! It helps me to understand what women have to deal with on their end.

I am just curious how many have been these "one liners", and "text speech", to end up with 4 pages of mail.

Maybe women should just reject anyone at first, to see who can handle it. [:D]

DarkSteven -> RE: An interesting tidbit (1/4/2013 8:50:29 PM)

I must break all the rules.

I read profiles. If I like someone, I'll message them. I assume that the most I'll get from it is a friendly conversation, so I don't follow all the criteria. If I get something more than just a friendly chat, cool.

Actually, not many were one liners or text speak. One of the most entertaining responses to the rejection was from a text speaker: "wtf is ur criterea bitch". We laughed our asses off over that.

Hi Oside.

I know that you know this already, but I would reinforce that the signal to noise ratio will improve once she gets past the sixty day mark. I'm not exactly a support of the 'new user' (aka the fresh meat alert) function.

Tell her a few stories about what came in the mail before the spam filter. That will help.

Luckily, she has experience and has a good sense of humor. I can understand how someone that has no idea WIITWD can get pushed into situations where they don't want to be.

[sm=rofl.gif]

That is a mere fortnight. What does you USA people consider a short term relationship? A walk in a park? [8|]

RemoteUser -> RE: An interesting tidbit (1/4/2013 10:21:14 PM)

It's also worth mentioning intent.

If I saw OsideGirl on the other side by random chance because she came up when I clicked 'Home', I'd be inclined to send her a message saying howdy, as I see her here all the time. (I have done that several times, not with OsideGirl though).

If you're a potential suitor with your dick in one hand whilst typing with the other then yes, chances are your clueless meanderings about what you want (which has nothing to do with the wants or interests of your target) will and should get deleted.

My girl told me once about receiving mail on the other side where Captain Clueless (not his real nick) told her he was looking for a cum guzzler. Well, gee, that's fantastic, and at the same time, phenomenally stupid. Her profile doesn't say "RemoteUser is my Daddy" or anything like that, but it doesn't say she's looking for anything either. It certainly doesn't say "Hey, were you looking to drop a load, because I just can't make it through the day without quaffing some stranger's wiggly white worms."

Maybe he felt it qualified as "Intellectual Discourse".

jlf1961 -> RE: An interesting tidbit (1/4/2013 10:29:26 PM)

Okay, I have seen OsideGirl post on many threads so I had to perv her profile.

And I agree, a not to say hello and to compliment her on her posting style would be a good thing to do.

Of course you ladies dont get the cmails like guys do.

Today:
one telling me she will be my slave if I send money to help her get out of Liberia where she was stranded after her boyfriend was busted on drug charges.

Got one with the single word "Hello" when I tried to respond in kind I discovered the profile no longer existed.

Got two from the same girl claiming to be 19 but in her pic she looks about 16, and judging from the various Justin Bieber posters on her wall behind her, I would say she was a bit younger.

I admit I am an old geezer of 51 who is not by any stretch of the imagination what one could call handsome, but evidently I have the words "Sucker" and "Desperate Dirty Old Idiot" tattooed on my forehead in ink only certain women can see in my pics.

tj444 -> RE: An interesting tidbit (1/4/2013 10:39:35 PM)

yeah.. thats my experience too..

and its why I have my age listed as 90.. it cuts down on the emails.. i have pretty much given up since I am not into S&M and most/many guys here are..

..last weekend i got several emails and they were all duds.. and anytime i try to give a polite "we arent compatible, all the best with your search" reply, I always regret that i did since most just respond with nasty (as your friend has learned).. if i read their email & profile but dont email back, then i dont get the nasty.. go figure.. needless to say.. I block a lot.. [:D]

jlf1961 -> RE: An interesting tidbit (1/4/2013 10:47:33 PM)

Yup, the dirty old geezer type critter perved tj444's profile.

The only problem that I foresee with the age listed as 90 and those beautiful legs in the pic is that you might get more messages from young subbie males looking for a well aged cougar.

Now looking at the interests listed, I see a few that we could find agreement on, but others that are a bit of a stretch, and I am not height weight proportionate but I am on my way there, in fact I have lost over 120 lbs since I started my journey in weight loss.

Furthermore I doubt if Princess would give up her spot on my bed for a women even with those beautiful legs.

There is a picture of Princess in my photos if you want to see what a woman's competition for bed space looks like.

tj444 -> RE: An interesting tidbit (1/4/2013 11:06:41 PM)

hahaha.. Princess looks hungry..

hmmm... i dont think my pasty white legs look very good.. but then i have seen them tanned, they do look much better then..

I dont actually get many messages from young cougar hunters.. I think they must actually read my profile and not bother.. [:D]

I will be leaving the US the end of this year too so that tends to put a wrench into things..

jlf1961 -> RE: An interesting tidbit (1/4/2013 11:32:55 PM)

Hope you have a safe trip.

As for princess, she is a little strange, you see,she does not bark when anyone comes in the house.

But if she does not know you, she makes it clear that if you try to go to far into the house before my sister or I tell her it is okay, it is going to get rather painful.

You see she is 75% timber wolf and 25% Siberian husky.

I have admitted I am a gun owner and out of 12 guns, only one is not in the gun safe, a colt model 1911 .45 cal ACP pistol. that is due to a rash of home invasions in the area. Anyone gaining entrance into this house is going to want to deal with me and the gun rather than her teeth.

I have gotten a large number of messages just commenting on her.

The real trip is that Princess wants nothing to do with my 10 month old great nephew when he is awake, since he has not mastered the nice petting. But when he is asleep, she is not far from him, and if he makes a sound, she lets my niece and sister know it.

She is a watch dog and four legged baby monitor.

"To show me that you have read my profile, start your message by declaring which state you live in, or your message will be deleted unread."

Saves you 90% of the reading to figure out which candidates are worth having a look at.
