skov -> A Question on FTM visibility in the community-- (1/9/2013 10:40:44 AM)

While I've thus far encountered quite a few accounts of MTF or female-identified/leaning individuals, I have yet to see another FTM on CM. In general, we're not a group that shows up in force anywhere, but it is slightly surprising to see no other of "my kind" here... Have I just overlooked them (you, possibly, if you're reading this.)? I guess I'm posting this as a shoutout to any transbrother that might be lurking.

We've had a few over the years, including a couple of regular posters on the boards. A couple of people I consider friends are trans masculine people I met on the profile side but never posted on the message boards. I hesitate to say "trans men" because both identify as non-binary. However, they migrated to FetLife and are no longer on CM. I'm sure there are other trans masculine folks but I haven't looked for them.

I have seen a few FTM over the years on the profile side.
However, I only recall 1 that posted to the forums.
I may be wrong though.
There is a larger active posting group of FTM as well as MTF on FL.

The FL migration seems to be a common pattern-- But I find FL to be, almost too big? It's slightly overwhelming there. So I guess I can't about a minority in ratio to a smaller demographic, anyway. Thank you for your answers.

Well, I hope you stick around and join in the discussions. Maybe if you're active, it will encourage other trans masculine folks to post also. Couldn't hurt, right? [;)]

Sounds swell to me.

As a whole, FL can be overwhelming.
You can do searches for specific groups which does narrow it down quite a bit.

I agree with Sylvere, I hope ya stay and join us in the forums.
Perhaps if there are FTM lurking they will not be afraid to chime in because they see you do.

I cannot think of any, but unless a person announces it repeatedly, I probably won't even realize. If a person identifies as female I think of them as female, and visa versa. I do often get it wrong when I make assumptions based on an avatar and/or screen name, and posting style, that leads me to think one gender when in they are not.

And yes, please stick around!!!

DarkSteven -> RE: A Question on FTM visibility in the community-- (1/9/2013 11:36:52 AM)

I can think of two off the top of my head. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if there were others that simply presented as male here.

DesFIP -> RE: A Question on FTM visibility in the community-- (1/9/2013 12:43:47 PM)

The one I think of first is Hausboy. Checking his posts shows he hasn't been on much besides I admit for a while though. Which is a pity because he's highly intelligent, knowledgeable and a very sympathetic human being.

Nakhla -> RE: A Question on FTM visibility in the community-- (1/9/2013 3:26:06 PM)

Yes, Hausboy comes to mind for sure. He was a great presence here. I've definitely met quite a few FTM trans in real life.

And I agree on the "may just be appearing as guys" thing - a lot of transfolk around here just identify by their chosen gender rather than as publicly trans.

Though it's more a topic for another thread, there is a big feminization kink among male subs ( and I mean they identify as fully male outside of play-space ) that doesn't appear to have an exact parallel. It's more to due with social transgression and female gender norms than the sub's gender identity overall. A surprising number of MTF trans on the other side are only so in a play context.

They are here. They're just not loud or outspoken about it because they just consider themselves like everyone else. They don't normally mention it in conversations here.

LadyPact -> RE: A Question on FTM visibility in the community-- (1/9/2013 9:56:07 PM)

I wish hausboy would post more again as well. Not only did he have a great perspective on certain topics, it was also nice to have a fellow leather person around. We don't have that many these days.

OP, I'm sorry but I actually know more FTM in real life than are currently active on the forums.
