Ok yes this has started as a rant...penises, dirty butts & face sitting cartoons as avitars, while I understand the "porn principle" of WIITWD is there any useful purpose for such things (other than subs embarassing themselves for kicks)?

The idea of the profile picture and/or avatar is to express yourself. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, whatever we see, is what they want us to see about them. my own avatar has my labia majora right there for all to see. There's more than that to the picture. At least, i feel there is. i'm not opposed to seeing genitals. But, if you're going to show them, i do have my own ideas on what's the right and wrong way to go about it. Seeing the common headless cockshot gives a very clear message to me, the user is expressing which head they're using. i see profile pictures and avatars that i find off-putting, but i know we all have different tastes in these matters. If an image is too disturbing for me personally, i can always block the user. need more caffeine

We did have a pretty decent thread not too long back about the cartoon avatars. I was surprised just how many female Dominants didn't care for them. I can't imagine what on earth makes somebody thing that a dirty asscrack pic is a good idea.

To me it kind of goes back to the whole idea that your profile (including your pictures/avatar) are the first, and often times only, impression you make so it pays to think about it a bit. If someone has a specific kink for feet etc I can understand the use of a related pic, but you also have to understand that it will turn a lot of people off. If that tradeoff is what you're after or is ok with you, cool. But I think a lot of times, especially judging from how many "what picture should I use" threads here, and how many times people give similar advice to new members about picking photos as part of a general profile review, people don't understand how their choices impact how people perceive them. I don't care that a profile picture isn't perfect or anything but the classic "headless torso in a mirror" or close up of your junk tells me a lot about how much effort you've put into presenting yourself and it does directly impact if I'm interested in talking.

I've seen the pics of dirty asses, tortured cocks, the whole gamut really. I think the worst for me though wasn't an avatar, but a gent wanted to trade pics and he thought the best way of enticing me to do so was to send me one of his hairy, dirty (like, doesn't wipe properly dirty, not just a poorly placed shadow) ass that he's half holding open with his left hand. I'm pretty sure the following "OMGWTFiswrongwithyou? Ewewewewewewewew" was not the reaction he was hoping for. It was so memorable because I was so incredibly shocked. I couldn't believe that someone would send such a terrible picture as an enticement. I mean, I do firmly believe that men are more visually oriented as a whole, but who the hell thinks sending a photo of your dirty ass and messy room would be appealing to anybody?
