tazzygirl -> The "intelligence" of birthers (1/9/2013 7:19:01 PM)

The birther movement is now targeting Chief Justice John Roberts for impeachment if he swears in President Barack Obama for a second term later this month.

Craige McMillan, a columnist for the conservative publication WND.com, wrote a piece last week asking Roberts to not swear Obama in, because, according to McMillan, Obama does not meet the Constitution's definition of a natural born citizen. In the piece, McMillan claims that Obama is not a citizen because his father was a citizen of Kenya and the United Kingdom, and that Obama cannot be "a natural born citizen" because his father was not an American citizen. Obama's mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, was born and raised in Kansas by parents who were born in Kansas.

Ok.. so.. we all know this wont happen.

But, lets suppose it does... imaginative play can be fun.... what would be the next stop and why would the birther's risk that?

And people call me crazy because I wanted a SCOTUS decision on what "natural born citizen" meant with the 2008 election.  (Yep, Obama and McCain have 'birth' issues.)

The next stop would either be swearing in Romney or holding a new election.

True.... I guess I didnt phrase that quite right. Obama is now sworn in. They get Robert's impeached.. its not the first time they wanted that. We now have an open seat on the SC... not just a seat... the big seat.

Obama would appoint a new Chief Justice likely shifting the balance of the Court to the left for a generation. Right wingers heads explode.

I guess that I do not understand the question.

We are make believing that it is the 22nd of January, and. . . we have a new SCOTUS justice.

Umm. . . the first question is. . . did Roberts swear anyone else in?  (I mean if the swearing in does not count for Obama does is count for anyone else?)

Have we seated the Senate?

How long did the investigation go?  (are we in 2015 now?)

Why was Roberts impeached?

Even with the new SCOTUS judge, are they even willing to hear the case?  That is actually my big question.  Umm. . . who says that they even want to hear it.  The SCOTUS actually gets to decide on what they will and will not hear.  (Which is why I have those other questions.)

ETA:

If on the 22nd, the SCOTUS declares Obama not eligible to be president, then I believe it goes straight to Biden.

Appoint, huh?  So, Obama does not need Senate ratification.  Nice to know.

When I see "birthers", I think mouth "breathers"; just saying.

tazzygirl -> RE: The "intelligence" of birthers (1/9/2013 8:37:45 PM)

I think their situation is that IF Robert's swears Obama in, he should be impeached. At this junction, there is no guilt or innocence assigned to the act itself... that being the swearing in could be valid... just that the birther's want Robert's impeached if he does.

Biden swear's in the Senate.

Because he swore in Obama... that is what the birther's are demanding.

lol... ok.... as I said... this is an imaginative exercise.

The birther's are demanding the following....

Justice Robert's swears in Obama, he be impeached. As I said in the OP, this isnt gonna happen.

I simply asked you to suppose that the birthers did manage to get him impeached.... have they truly thought this through?

The question of Obama's eligibility would go to the Court.

Impeachment goes to Congress.

That's what it is called. The President nominates a person to an appointment on the bench. The Senate does get to confirm that appointment.

I can't see the House impeaching Roberts, either.

Of course not.

tazzygirl -> RE: The "intelligence" of birthers (1/9/2013 10:11:17 PM)

lol.. I know... I have no clue why they are asking this.

But, based upon their asking... IF they were to get their way and have him impeached, Obama would be seating the next Chief Justice.

Or: Roberts figures that he is a law unto himself, as already shown with the Citizens United ruling, that his destiny is to Save the country, so he decides to suppress the Tea Party as a clear and present threat to national security. The 47% laugh their fool heads off.
