I would in a heartbeat.

OrionTheWolf -> RE: Would you go? (1/10/2013 11:23:46 AM)

I like it here on Earth, but I would definitely like to volunteer others to go ;)

It is cool though.

AthenaSurrenders -> RE: Would you go? (1/10/2013 11:28:01 AM)

Hell no. I like my privacy and to chose my own company. To be part of a colony of four people initially, potentially for several years, would be grim.

And what if it doesn't work out? What if the funding stops?

Also, the application process involves being on a reality tv show. Hard limit.

JeffBC -> RE: Would you go? (1/10/2013 12:11:48 PM)

Absent the reality TV show part I would if Carol was already dead and I would not otherwise. There is zero chance I'd be interested in having directors & editors make a fool out of me on a reality TV show.

Moonhead -> RE: Would you go? (1/10/2013 12:19:41 PM)

FR:
Never mind the reality tv thing, you still shouldn't go. Haven't you ever read any Ray Bradbury or Leigh Brackett?

needlesandpins -> RE: Would you go? (1/10/2013 12:20:56 PM)

instant answer, without taking family...and tv shows into account [:'(] .......  yes

needles

The chance to be part of history and have your name beside that of Magellan, Ericson, Columbus, Cook, Peary, DeGama, Aldrin, Armstrong.....
The chance to meet nature on her terms with the price of failure being death.
The chance to find out that you're really made of.

I'd go in a heartbeat. [cue star trek theme]

TNDommeK -> RE: Would you go? (1/10/2013 12:58:36 PM)

I would, but I'd be scared as shit on the way. But once there I would be in awe. Oh and yea, minus the reality tv thing.

kdsub -> RE: Would you go? (1/10/2013 1:24:06 PM)

And since this is a one-way trip, says Sam Gibbs at Gizmodo UK, "you'll also need either a deep loathing of Earth, or have nothing to live for here."....from the link

This is you....!!!!!

Butch

I would nominate you too, Hill. =)

ResidentSadist -> RE: Would you go? (1/10/2013 2:23:45 PM)

Maybe we can get Piers Morgan a ticket and get rid of his sorry ass? I am sure there won't be too many guns on Mars.

This...cause it needed to be said again.

He is such an idiot.

servantforuse -> RE: Would you go? (1/10/2013 4:25:19 PM)

I'll be in Puerto Vallarta in about 7 weeks. That's good enough for me. I'm pretty sure that Mars isn't 'all inclusive'...

jlf1961 -> RE: Would you go? (1/10/2013 4:28:49 PM)

Can I send my niece's boyfriend instead?

littlewonder -> RE: Would you go? (1/10/2013 4:47:07 PM)

I don't really have any interest in going. Just not my thing. Plus I'm sure the whole vertigo thing would kick in with me and make me ill. I can't even watch carnival rides without feeling ill.

Kaliko -> RE: Would you go? (1/10/2013 5:21:06 PM)

Would there be wi-fi?

And...why can't they ever come back?

Probably combo of contamination & bone breakdown in space. Early astronauts were wheelchair bound for weeks after a flight. Shuttle they learned to mandate so many hours of exercise a day

I'd pay double for a two way trip.

Thank you. One of 7 Billion people to be ambassador to another world and one of the elders of a new human colony and the newest offshoot of the human race.
Homo astreus.
Grandfather of a new starfaring species.

breagha -> RE: Would you go? (1/10/2013 7:01:36 PM)
