Nice to see someone agrees with me...

More shaming of the Right by the politically correct Left.

Gotcha. [8|]

(Move along. Nothing to see here. Move along)

When did Colin Powell join the "Politically Correct Left", again? This right here is a textbook example. A REPUBLICAN points out the pervasive racism inherent in Alinsky's Southern Strategy, and they get thrown out of the party. Not really all that different from when the Neo-Cons tossed the Paleo-cons for suggesting that the invasion and occupation of Iraq wasn't a good idea.

If only the GOP was so quick to expel the actual racists, rather than those who call them out, eh?

vincentML -> RE: Colin Powell calls out Racist GOP... (1/13/2013 10:00:23 AM)

Colin Powell will always be a puppet in the neocons' disgraceful and needless killing of Iraqi women and children, telling lies to the UN General Assembly about mobile poison gas units. Powell has no credibility to comment on anything related to humane issues. Unforgivable.

Powergamz1 -> RE: Colin Powell calls out Racist GOP... (1/13/2013 10:32:26 AM)

And your moral authority to tell a black man not to openly express an opinion on racism in America is???

Just who does qualify as leaning to the right in your view?
Is it just you and the late Ronald Reagan keeping the faith?

What makes you think Reagan qualifies by today's right-wingnut standards?

Powell may be / have been a member of the political Right but his denunciation of the Right as racist does fall within the context of political correctness, a most definite trait of the left. As such it is not improper to say it's more right bashing by the left within the context of the bash.

Just who does qualify as leaning to the right in your view?

Not you.[8D]

That's the bizzarro world we are heading for, where Reagan and Nixon will soon be considered traitors to the cause like Dole, Powell, and Goldwater...

And not because they suddenly flip-flopped and moved to Moscow, but merely because they refused to embrace Westboro level extremism.

If a member of the right calls a Mexican a "wetback", but nobody is around to hear it, is it not still racist?

DarkSteven -> RE: Colin Powell calls out Racist GOP... (1/13/2013 11:58:49 AM)

Not quite, fargle. Powell was condemning two things:

1. A racist element in the GOP, a splinter group, as it were.
2. More seriously, veiled attempts by the major figures in the GOP to appeal to that racist subgroup.

He was NOT condemning the entire GOP as being racist.

I'm not a leftist, nor rightist. Asking it backwards has no effect on me.

Besides, it was a "yes" or a "no" question.

what he said was there is a dark vein within the GOP
that is not denouncing the entire right.
a vein is compared to the entire body is minute.

Did I tell a black man not to openly express an opinion on racism in America?
Are only black men allowed to express an opinion about racism in America?

My comment was a condemnation of the moral authority of a man who aided and abetted the needless and brutal attack on Iraq. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Condie Rice, Colin Powell . .. .they all have blood on their hands . . . Iraqi blood and American/British blood. Only the war on Vietnam was a greater horror than what this group of killers concocted with their lies. Why should we forget and forgive so quickly? Why would anyone give any of them a public platform? The have no honor.

Mea culpa: I thought Saint Ronnie of the Monster Deficit was still seen as the last gasp for true conservative values in the Republican party and hadn't been demoted to RINO status yet. Have all of the neocons in here who keep blathering about what a brilliant President he was not received that memo, or something?

How come if someone is a teensy weensy bit to the left of Attila the Hun, they are part of the politically correct left? There is half a political spectrum to go before Powel is in the centre of reasonable politics.

jlf1961 -> RE: Colin Powell calls out Racist GOP... (1/14/2013 5:17:29 AM)

the GOP is not racist, they just dont like people who are different than they are, regardless of race.

However, the majority of the GOP are probably nice people, it is the vocal minority of the party that are egocentric, narcissistic idiots.
