I think I have a wheat intolerance... As soon as I eat something with wheat or carbs even... I feel so 'big' and awful. sick almost

There are a lot of people like that.

My partner can eat a lot of carbs.
I can't.
He can handle way more meat than me.
Same with my UM.
So when we do meals together.
It usually works out that the 2 of them get one thing and I get a variation of it.

I'm ok with that.
Our bodies are different.
Not only because they are men and I'm well a woman.
But because I know I have some chemical and hormonal imbalances that neither of them have.

Can I eat, carbs and meat?
Yep, but I've realized my body does better on mostly raw fruits and veggies.
I've also realized that for ME when I eat a more traditional native diet,
My body does much better.

If you do have an allergy to wheat or glutens then its a real problem as far as putting weight on, especially round the gut. Lots of people with wheat intolerances are wrongly diagnosed as having IBS.
It may be worth trying to come off glutens for a few weeks and see what happens.
I couldn't believe what happened to me when I came off wheat... my energy levels went through the roof and the weight just fell off me.

I can eat Food for Life bread which is made from sprouted wheat with no ill effects. Products from wheat flour make me bingey and then sleepy. It's more expensive, but more filling and I eat it less often.

I often subsitute brown rice for bread. For example, I had tuna with brown rice instead of bread.

MariaB -> RE: Insanity Work Out Program (1/15/2013 6:44:50 AM)

Thats interesting Kalikshama because a lot of French bread is made from sprouted wheat and people with Celiac disease in the UK can often tolerate proper French baguettes. There is also corn bread and rice flour bread.

/rushes off to google/

ooo! Sprouted Wheat French Bread

So this past week I decided I want / need to step it up.
I am kind of nervous because I am comfortable doing what I am doing.

I find it odd that no matter how long I work out regularly, never go up more that one increment of weights, have decided I have a mental block, and am going to work on that.

I was FURIOUS after work Friday, went to the gym, had a great workout (with heavier weights), thought I was going to be sore the next few days, but was not (except for my knee which has been bothering me since I started going back to the gym 1/5.

I think the best workout routine is one you CAN do and one you WILL do consistently.

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Insanity Work Out Program (1/15/2013 7:23:53 PM)

kalikshama

That is what I have been doing since May, upping the weights I used on Jackies Work Outs.

I have an old knee injury and after today I'm not sure I will continue to keep up with this. (the insanity work out)
Injuring or re-injuring myself would be BAD.
I don't want to set myself back.

I will give it another day (tomorrow) and see if my knee continues to act up.

ServosCor -> RE: Insanity Work Out Program (1/15/2013 7:31:32 PM)

kalikshama:  You are spot on saying :  The best workout you can do is the one you CAN and WILL do consistantly.

Lilsquaw:  what about backing it down a bit?  I think it's best to do what you can do comfortably rather than risk setback or injury.  just my thoughts.  Then try in a few days to gradually do a bit more?
I know Im not going to be able to do the Insanity workout at the recommended pace for a bit but I feel if I can do it at half speed, hey it's more than I have been doing.  I can gradually up the pace as I get conditioned and used to working out again.  good luck!

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Insanity Work Out Program (1/15/2013 7:46:17 PM)

It's not the pace I have an issue with.
It is some of the moves.
Which the other half told me MIGHT happen.
My knee cap has been known to pop out in the past.

Today, it didn't but it's felt uneasy.
So I will decide by 6 am if I am going to go back to my old work out with heavier weights or keep doing the Insanity.
Both me and my partner agree injuring myself is not something I want for a lot of reasons.

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Insanity Work Out Program (1/16/2013 5:27:37 AM)

After speaking to my partner last night and this morning.
I went back to my old work out.
I will continue to increase the intensity and weights.
However, due to my old knee injury.
We both agree that the Insanity work out isn't going to work for me.

kalikshama -> RE: Insanity Work Out Program (1/16/2013 5:39:52 AM)

Ya, I took a look at it a few years ago and ruled it out due to my knees. Come on, swimming season!

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Insanity Work Out Program (1/16/2013 5:40:59 AM)

I agree I love being able to swim, hell do work outs in the pool!

AthenaSurrenders -> RE: Insanity Work Out Program (1/16/2013 11:02:07 AM)

Thanks for this. I was considering doing it, but in the past when I've done things with lots of jumping in them I get niggly pains in my knees and ankles and I'm always afraid I'm setting myself up for an injury in the long run. I wont do it if it's been bothering your knees.

I'm running at the moment but I want to lift heavy, I started but had to stop due to not being able to get the childcare to go to the gym, and not having the space for the equipment at home.

ServosCor -> RE: Insanity Work Out Program (1/16/2013 11:05:54 AM)

Girls...........it's 83* and sunny here today.........Come on down and we can work out then have pina colada's and yellow monkey's poolside.  Then workout some more ( if we feel like )  <grin>

kalikshama -> RE: Insanity Work Out Program (1/16/2013 11:22:37 AM)

Uh huh. Here it's 40 degrees and fixing to be slushy when the predicted rain starts melting the snow that fell last night.

I can't do pools because of the chlorine. [:(]

No idea what a yellow monkey is, but I'm there.

I did bother my rt knee which is the one that was injured years ago.
So rather than risk injuring myself and setting myself back.
I decided not to continue it.

It was raining and in the mid 30s here today.
So although I don't mind the rain being outside in it to work out...
Not in my game plan.

I will say, that I went back to my Jacki Warner Work Outs.
However, I added a few of the exercises from the Insanity Work Out that didn't strain my knee.
So for me doing the Insanity wasn't a total loss.
Now I have a a frankienstien work out that gives me the intensity I want without the obvious risk of injury.

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Insanity Work Out Program (1/18/2013 4:52:12 AM)

This is my frankenstien work out that I started doing

1 min. of each moving straight into the next

Jumping jacks
squat kicks
power knee -rt
power knee - lft
mountain climber
tire jumps
high knees
four square jump
ft lunge
chair push ups
dead lifts
db curl
wide row
db press
reverse fly

Throughout the day, as I come up the stairs. I am dropping down an doing 20 push ups on the stairs, basically chair push-ups.

It is very intense but does not put the pressure on my knees that the Insanity was.
